History
Founding of the Borealian Socialist Republic
Infighting and Collapse of the IWW
On August 18th, infighting and irreconcilable differences caused the collapse of the Industrial Workers of the World. Two factions emerged and they would consist of Duckapore and Bremerhaven, which would become Carbon vassals, and the Borealian Socialist Republic, containing a majority of the former IWW members. The BSR would take much of the IWW's historical claims, most notably its farms and virgin claims, with Bremerhaven taking the settlements of Three Cities, Bremerhaven, and Georgia.
Declaration of the USSN
The Borealian Socialist Republic was founded on August 18th, 2020, originally known as the United Socialist States of Napistan (USSN). Eight signers agreed to create the BSR, listed here in order of signing: 4788888, coolking1500, BennyZ, Red_Medic_Leader, SchachclubEv, SKELET0R_, VolutionFs, and Zombie_Striker. The majority of the former IWW members remained with the BSR, with a few members joining Bremerhaven and Duckapore, and the population of the BSR soon reached over a dozen active citizens.
First Election Cycles
During its infancy, a transitional government was set up to ensure the sovereignty of the BSR's constituents. However, by August 23rd, 2020 the USSN changed its name to the BSR, passed a Constitution, and held its first elections for Directors of the Union.
Writing of the Constitution
One of the major issues with the IWW according to the BSR's founders was that it did not have a proper document listing its ideals. The problem was not that these ideals weren't known to the current IWW members, but that they should be written down so that they would be readily available for new friends joining the nation. Additionally, the IWW had progressed so much technologically and in capability that its original structure was no longer viable in supporting a union of modern socialist states. To prevent future crises over the scope and powers of the Borealian Socialist Republic in relation to its communes and members, the Constitution of the Borealian Socialist Republic was written,[1] outlining the policies and procedures of the BSR.
Throughout the course of history, it becomes necessary for the worker to dissolve the political and social bands which have connected them to agents of despotism and aristocracy, and to assume their natural rights to create for themselves a government, which is classless and free of tyranny, a reminder that cooperation and solidarity will be stronger than Discord, To resolve the struggles of the workers of Napistan against the self-entitled patriciate, to engage our right to the political and social autonomy, and to deliberate the peaceful resolutions with respect, we the workers, in order to establish justice, provide for common defense, promote the general welfare of all workers, do ordain and establish this constitution for the Borealian Socialist Republic. — Preamble of the Constitution of the Borealian Socialist Republic
