The Empire of Columbia, also known as the Third Empire of Columbia, was a sovereign nation on CivRealms 2.0 which had held commune status within the IWW,[1] and was located in the Western hemisphere of the Main Continent. It is governed primarily by a President with sweeping authority and jurisdiction, representing a hereditary monarch, the Emperor.
History
The Empire of Columbia was founded in its current form on October 7th, 2017, and its current constitution was ratified on February 11th, 2018. On April 15th, 2020 Columbia (as the Second Empire of Columbia) announced the transfer of a piece of land from Moloka and officially joined the CivRealms 2.0 server.[2]
The First Romano-Columbian War
After a series of arguments and border disputes between Columbia and it's neighbors in May of 2020 a coalition was formed of The Roman Empire (TRE), Arelat and Meridia which then proceeded to invade Columbia. The war was a decisive victory for the coalition and resulted in the partition of Columbia between the three nations, formalized by the signing of the Treaty of Serenity.[3][4]
The Second Romano-Columbian War
In early June of 2020, the powerful nation of Savaguard collapsed. Savagaurd was one of TRE's most powerful allies and was able to defend it from any Columbians attempting to reclaim their territory. shadedoom, the Emperor of Columbia now felt that it was a perfect time to retake Columbia. A contingent of mercenaries were hired from Risunksy and Sons to help. On the 13th of June they marched into the Roman province of Judea and demanded that the former Columbian territory be returned. At the same time the IWW were attacking TRE to retake Christianada, the pressure of both attcks made TRE concede to Columbia's demands and then contract Risunksy and Sons to attack the IWW forces on Christianada.
After a short period of stalling TRE eventually signed onto the Treaty of Ashford in June 2020, returning most of Columbia's former territory to them.[5][6]
To seek protection from another attack by TRE, shadedoom looked to have Columbia associated with a larger power. At first he looked to join Carbon but eventually Columbia joined the IWW on the 4th of July 2020.[1]
