Rain began CivRealms wanting to build, make friends, organize, and in his words ''“unite the server’s leftists”.'' His goal on the server was try to “ideologically win”,{{Citation needed|date=July 2022}} and decided to build a nation to present as a threat on the server.
Rain began CivRealms as a brand new, skeptical yet adventurous player. Wanting to build, make friends, organize, unite the leftist community, and try to ideologically "win" CivRealms by convincing the general player-base that Anarchism as an economic and social ideology not only works, but that it is the most successful or preferable system of organizing and having fun. Rain not only knew he would need a lot of help to organize, but expected backlash to something so "radical" and bold as Anarchism. The conclusion was to build a nation that gathered enough members and resources to, in some capacity, resist the toxic or "shitter" elements on the server.

Rain chose this area because he understood that trying to contest existing claims would probably get him killed, and the large useless land of Arctica had essentially no claims or nations at the time of founding.
On the January 23<sup>rd</sup>, 2020 Rain established the [[Industrial Workers of the World]] (IWW), an organization of anarchist, socialist, and communist countries on the northern continent of Napistan, though the anarchist part is disputed due to later events. Rain chose this area as the northern continent of Napistan was largely unclaimed compared to the rest of the world.


When the IWW was declared on the 23rd of January it had already been founded beforehand, whereby Rain had recruited some players together to join the server and begin setting up communes. And thus the Commune of [[Tolstoy]] and Vescau (Later rebranded as [[Exarchos]]) came into existence. At the time of creation, though, Rain did not possess a computer and thus could not play CivRealms, merely organizing the group and encouraging players to move up to the northern isolated continent to begin their journeys there.

When Rain was able to play, he moved to Tolstoy. He would gather resources and participated in the excavation of a canal to provide easy travel under the North-East Waterways Organization (NEWO).

Later, Rain begun a recruitment campaign utilizing the [[Anarchist Communist Association]] discord that he ran. Along with Reddit posts, the IWW grew incredibly quickly, with his advertising becoming some of the highest upvoted content on r/CivRealms<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/r/CivRealms/comments/eji6oo/fair_warning_for_the_chuds_organize_today_join/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 RainOfPain125's IWW advertisement hitting the top 20 posts of all time on r/CivRealms]</ref>
After enough basic organizing had been finished, and Rain had retrieved his gaming computer, he committed to a massive recruitment campaign, utilizing his already existing community the Anarchist Communist Association along with elaborate, well-written Reddit posts across many large and small anarchist/socialist subreddits that quickly attracted tons of new members. The IWW went from a group that nobody cared about or thought was a joke, to the largest nation on CivRealms within a couple months. All sorts of new ideology, ideas, projects, and communes came to existence. Rain can be somewhat thanked for "reviving" or enlarging CivRealms (and by extension Civ in general) as an entirety due to the magnitude of the advertising effort for the IWW.


The IWW was however, a very loose and disorganized group. Not because members did not agree ideologically but because no one, including Rain, actually understood many of the mechanics present on CivRealms which later lead to the easy bombing of Tolstoy by PartyAnimal (later revealed to be [[Vanax]]). Rain and [[EmDubleYou]] were pearled in the bombing incident, as Vanax wanted to 'purge the commies', however a coalition of [[Alexandria]] and other forces arrived to break us out because 'we were a newfriend nation that did nothing wrong'. PartyAnimal logged before coalition forces got to the bunker, and we were free.
The IWW was a very loose and disorganized group as many did not fully understand the mechanics present on CivRealms. Greenland was a new nation which threatened the IWW, demanding that they leave its surrounding land in the center-south of Napistan on the coast. However, players who ran Greenland quit{{citation needed}} and the IWW extended its claims farther south gaining a carrot farm in the south as a result. This would later lead to a small conflict between [[MCSpenguin]] and Rain that lead to Rain being pearled for two weeks.
Rain continued to grind and build until he fully understood the RealisticBiomes plugin, now understanding that most of the continent could not grow any crops, he sought to expand the IWW's claims across the Arctic continent to more land that was arable enough to grow carrots. Conveniently, a nothing-nation named "Greenland" suddenly threatened the IWW if it did not leave its surrounding land in the center-south of the Arctic on the coast. Only ~1-2 days later, the two people who ran Greenland quit the server, but not before giving up their group to a member of the IWW.

With Rain temporarily pearled the IWW used the free time to introduce a position that would conduct diplomacy, trade, and facilitate organization in the IWW named the "Union Organizer" or UO, a democratically elected position.
So then, the IWW inherited a large carrot farm in the south arctic. Happy with the details, Rain decided he wanted to build a coastal town near the farm to increase trade and access to arable land, picking a spot that he had thought was only a couple hundred or so blocks from the farm. Rain mined his way underground in an effort to build a railroad towards the new location, but realized the area was bastioned and assumed it was abandoned debris from the only other nation that used to exist named "Maelstrom". He checked the most up-to-date claims map to check nobody claimed the land he was at, and asked chat if anyone had claims in the Arctic, but was given no valuable response. Rain then went AFK while automatically placing blocks in the effort to remove the abandoned bastions, breaking one, continuing the railroad tunnel, until he hit the next one and began to AFK break that one.

Rain was unpearled after his two weeks was up and proceeded to contribute to the IWW. Sometime later some members of the IWW would make calls to have a vote on a new leader. In doing so, the role of complete ownership came to be titled "Server Organizer" or SO. Folks including Rain, Freezor, Ian, Pierre, and Hiduck ran for the new Server Organizer position. Initially, the opposition against Rain was divided. However, a series of events and manipulation lead to an outcome that elected [[HeyDuckHi]].
When Rain arrived back at his computer, he was killed & pearled by "[[MCSpenguin]]". MCS had a carrot farm in the area that nobody in the IWW was aware of, did not post his claims on the claims map, and did not respond clearly in chat despite being online (on an alt) at the time. Despite the misunderstanding on Rain's part, and the consequences of MCS's choice not to intervene and alert Rain or add claims to the map, MCS still decided to keep Rain pearled. MCS's demands in return for being instantly unpearled were reparations, an agreement to stop "spamming" chat with communist propaganda, and an agreement to stop the name change of Napistan to Arctica. Rain refused this offer, because the notion to rename the continent was voted on by the members of the IWW and Rain had no say in changing the name himself. MCS didn't care for Rain's excuse of democracy, and gave him two weeks and reparations to pay, which Adam (IGN Coolking1500) delivered when the time was up.

At the end of the day Rain honored the vote and transferred ownership of the IWW. Ownership was successfully transferred, but Rain was quickly Ducky's biggest critic, highlighting abusive actions she was committing from day one. This ended up with him getting banned from the IWW discord. While Rain was away for his two weeks, members of the IWW thought of it as a crisis, and came up with the idea to create a new position called "Union Organizer", to which he made. Elections ended with Adam and [[VolutionFS]] working together with Rain to organize and run the IWW.


Rain would leave Napistan as an exile of his own nation. At some point, members of the IWW, being anarchist who are opposed to authority, started joking that 'they did not elect rain'. Jokes soon turned into a serious discussion on whether or not the ownership over the entire IWW discord and in-game group should be democratically elected. After a vote, despite Rain being fiercely against the general concept of transferring ownership to someone who could simply destroy or ruin the entire project, it was decided that the position of owner should be democratically elected, which prompted a vote to elect a new Server Organizer. Many folks including Rain, [[Feezor]], [[ian]], [[Pierre]] and [hiduckhi]] ran for the new position. A lot of votes were well-divided between ian, Feezor, and hiduckhi, which would have thrown the results in the favor of a Rain win due to the rest of those votes being for him. However, the vote was somewhat rigged / sabotaged, as the creator of the vote ([[5492]]) collaborated with the opposition to manipulate the results by going into the Google Form (which was used to run the vote), deleting users previous votes, and asking them to cast all of their voting power into hiduckhi. After enough votes were manipulated, hiduckhi won by a single vote, and so began the decline of the IWW.

Rain would end up settling in [[Norlund]]. This was suggested by Rain's associate [[1234fireball]] who suggested to him that he should create a town and petition to become a municipality within Norlund. He would end up founding the [[Paris Commune]] and the [[Black Internationale]] while in Norlund, of which his advertising campaign for the Internationale was wildly successful, and would become the top upvoted post of all time on r/CivRealms<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/r/CivRealms/comments/ga9kly/what_we_proclaim_is_the_right_to_wellbeing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 RainOfPain125 publicly declaring the the Black Internationale on r/CivRealms]</ref>

When the Paris Commune was accepted into the government on April 29th, 2020, Rain would immediately face opposition from the majority of Norlund. While this caused widespread public outcry, King Terry of Norlund at the time reacted with indifference. When King Terry of Norlund could no longer play CivRealms, a referendum was held in which Shameless_Shamus became the King of Norlund. Shamus would later "visit" the Paris Commune pretending to be friendly, only to unexpectedly pearl an undefended Rain.

What was unknown at the time to Rain, was that a traitorous minority of the IWW were already prepared to overthrow the entire union had their candidate hiduckhi not won. Between the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th of March they replaced all the snitches, chests, and main things across the entire continent to a different group. This minority of people orchestrated the rigging of the vote after they realized that Rain would truly honor democratic values and the results of the vote. Despite no violence occurring or even the knowledge that violence was planned, the traitors called it a revolution and nicknamed it the "crab coup", making up a false narrative that Rain refused to step down and that violent revolution was necessary making Rain seem like a bad person, leading to people making fun of Rain, insulting him as an "anarcho-monarchist".
===Wyvern===
Rain saw CivUniverse as an opportunity to begin again. He would end up joining the small building nation of Wyvern with his friend [[UnknownKarnij]]. This stint wouldn’t last for long as a user named Prebanned along with a friend decided to travel to Wyvern and kill Rain.


Of course this isn’t the end. He left Rain’s pearl in a random chest in the middle of nowhere and the pearl would proceed to expire the next day. After this to make sure this didn’t happen again the council of Wyvern evicted Rain but gave him time to gather his belongings and demolish his house.
====Criticism of the Insurrectionary IWW====

After this he’d move to a jungle with [[Zombie_Striker]] where they would both proceed to secretly build an underground commune named after [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woody_Guthrie Woody Guthrie]. At the same time Rain would join Camertem. Though Rain was very busy with college which prevented him from playing often. He decided to spend some of his precious time to visit the [[Fempire Union]].
With Rain being 'democratically' defeated in the election for Server Organizer, he honored the results of the vote and handed over total ownership to hiduckhi, hoping that the Union would continue on despite what he believed was the beginning of the end. However conflict nearly immediately came about as Rain and other members perceived hiduckhi as abusing their position within the first 2-3 days. The newfound political opposition created a vote against them denouncing the abusive action they had taken. The sands of time have forgotten what the dispute was about, but it was irrelevant. Ducky abused to delete the vote without consulting anybody, which had never happened before in IWW history. This prompted Rain to be fervently opposed to Ducky, creating a second vote, only for it to be taken down again. Rain protested Ducky in the chat up until he was banned from the Discord (and by extension the in-game group) for describing the similarity of Ducky's new regime to the German NSDAP silencing and removing political opposition by force.

Rain joked that the IWW was descending into fascism, coining the meme "Descent into fascism is real". Although some in the community thought he was being serious and accused him of accusing them as fascists.


He’d join the voice chat of the Fempire Union and hang out while touring the nation, until members of Camertem raided the voice chat and verbally berated Rain for minutes, making tens of accusations and interrogating him randomly in the Fempire voice chat, which made Rain and everyone else there very uncomfortable, with members of Fempire asking them multiple times to leave and take it somewhere else. After a few minutes of screaming and accusing, they ended with saying that Rain and his friends were kicked out of Camertem and not allowed back for no reason provided, with no evidence provided.
Rain went on to write a long post<ref name=":1">A critical and thorough analysis into the fall of the Industrial Workers of the World, and the rise of the Insurrectionary IWW. He cited the fact that, as he understood the 'material conditions' the position of ownership was a necessary evil, and as the original founder of the IWW, he was in the unique position to never have a motive or incentive to betray or hurt the Union, while on the other hand a democratically elected owner could have hidden motives, and would have zero oversight - it would be impossible to remove them peacefully unless they voluntarily transferred ownership like Rain did. And thus because of regularly democratically electing a new owner every so often, it would eventually result in a "bad actor" owner. He also noted that, this would certainly lead to factions of parties competing over having their own members be the Server Organizer, as they would band together and vote for a candidate who would abuse in their favor. Rain believed the role of organizing should have been left to the Union Organizers, who he could insert oversight into, and enforce a removal of power if they abused.


Rain got on the nerves of the CivUniverse staff which led to him being frequently muted on both Discord and the CivUniverse global chat. Rain frequently argued with notable player [[Vespasian]] who was posting content about race theory among other racist things, resulting him being muted and the eventual removal of the #shitflinging channel on the CivUniverse Discord. Rain also regularly posted and advertised the IWW Discord, however after an investigation by CivUniverse staff in January 2021 they forbade Rain from advertising the IWW, believing that the Discord was not centered around CivUniverse.
Two loyal members of the IWW escaped with Rain, along with one other who provided materials for a move away from the Arctic.

Rain joined CivClassics in late June of 2021. He spent all of his time in [[The No State Commune]]. Mainly building and having fun with friends. He never joined other nations or did much else.

Rain has been a subject of several controversies in the Civ community and is generally perceived in negative regards at the very least, and at the most majoritarian disdain by the Civ community at large. The first being the events surrounding the IWW election and how he was hesitant to accept the outcome of a vote he claims was rigged.

Another incident involved an account named RainOfPain126 joining CivRealms pretending to be Rain again, this time posting racial slurs in the chat. This got the real Rain in some trouble with the CivRealms staff whom thought he was the one on the alt, and for some time people mistakenly thought of Rain as a racist until it was widely understood what happened. Many less observant players were probably fooled because of how similar the usernames were.

The Industrial Workers of the World had recently gained a new territory named "Greenland" in the south of the Napistan continent which hosted a huge carrot farm, after the previous owners gave up on CivRealms and transferred ownership to the IWW. Rain thought it was time to create a new town named [[Rojava]] that would unite the IWW together militarily, economically, and politically, with all railways connecting to it. The idea for the town was received well by most members of the IWW, thus Rain went down south to begin. He wanted to create the town next to the new carrot farm for easy access to food, on his way down he found what he thought was the farm and tried to start building but a bastion prevented him from doing so.
With Rain in "exile" from the IWW, he retreated to the mainland continent, wandering, following the advice of [[1234fireball]] who suggested that he could move into Norlund territory, start a new town, and then could petition to join the Norlund government as a new autonomy (or "municipality"). Rain went ahead and followed this advice, escaping the Insurrectionary IWW to establish a new life in the far north-western nation of Norlund, which was almost the same in climate to the Arctic, featuring the same boring snow and hills. Rain chose the most useless and isolated region of Norlund, believing nobody would care about the land and leave him alone, and began the [[Paris Commune]], being approved into the Norlund government shortly thereafter.


Rain would start to break the bastion thinking nothing of it, because the land was unclaimed on the CivRealms claims map and he IWW was well aware that previous nations tried to survive on the continent yet withered away. Members of the IWW would periodically find abandoned bastions, so Rain thought no different in this situation. It turned out that the bastion belonged to [[MCSpenguin]] and the farm he was trying to build next to, which he thought was the recently acquired one, was also Penguins farm.
Soon Rain founded the [[Black Internationale]], a world-wide organization with a heavier emphasis on anarchism and resisting authority. Although he was beginning to get tired of CivRealms, and chose not to mass-advertise the BI as heavily as he did with the IWW. The Paris Commune started to accumulate members, with 10 active members at its peak. It was a mostly underground commune, with a very long and wide tunnel dug at Y=0 to the factory capital of Norlund, Kannin. From there, Rain and the members of the Paris Commune could start to efficiently progress.


MCSpenguin would go on to say he caught Rain "with smoking gun in hand" when he found him AFK breaking the bastion, pearling him on the spot. The dispute raged with the main points on Rain's side being that the land was not marked on the claims map, that he was never provided actual coordinates of Greenland's farm, and that he asked chat if anyone lived at the coordinates he was breaking the bastion at. MCSpenguin's side was that Rain should not be breaking random bastions, that Penguin should not have to put his claims on the claims map, and that he replied to Rain's question in chat on his alt.
However, Rain was almost instantly faced with opposition when the Paris Commune was accepted into the government. The king at the time did not know who Rain was, and accepted him for who he said he was. The conservative and reactionary portion of Norlund protested this, harassing Rain and members of the Paris Commune, unhinged by the Norlund government. The Paris Commune and by extension Rain remained peaceful, never fighting or threatening these folks. Rain did have his fun grinding and posting Anarchist propaganda within the Norlund community, trying to convince the lesser conservative population that Anarchism exists, it is a legitimate movement, and that it could work.


Consequently Rain was pearled for two weeks and then released unconditionally. Rain was offered an early conditional release if the IWW decided to give up trying to rename the continent to Anarquistica, but that was not Rain's call to make since it was a democratic vote by all members of the IWW, showcasing Penguin's lack of care for the circumstances and situation.<ref>[https://i.imgur.com/IcohWhj.jpg IWW vote to rename Napistan to Anarquistica]</ref>
Things escalated for Rain when a member of Norlund posted a bounty against him, which was unheard of in Norlund at the time. The non-conservative portion of Norlund protested this, insisting it was out of order to put a bounty on other Norlund citizens, especially one that paid taxes and did not break any rules. The person was convinced to remove the bounty, by the damage had been done, the situation was escalating beyond constant harassment and name-calling, which set the stage for the climax of the escalation to come.

At some point, the Norlund kingdom dissolved as the king could no longer play CivRealms, dubbed the "[https://civwiki.org/wiki/Norlund#The_Death_of_King_Terry_and_Constitutional_Crisis Death of King Terry and Constitutional Crisis]". In his absence, a referendum was announced on choosing a new owner of Norlund. After the results were tallied, a new leader named [[ShamelessShamus]] become the leader of the Norlund government. In a few days, a minister of Norlund declared in the Discord that the Paris Commune was 'now Norlund national territory' because of 'prolonged inactivity' which was simply false. By the time Rain got online to protest this ridiculous decision, the minister who declared such a thing was offline. Rain plead that there was a mistake, as there was 4-5 active members of the Paris Commune and thus it was certainly not "inactive" by any means.

===Alleged Doxing Incident===
Shortly after [[The No State Commune]] was raided by Acadia and others, Rain had quit playing [[CivClassics]]. Though he remained on the r/CivClassics subreddit making comments. One day Rain noticed on his phone that he received two different notifications to a post he made, both posts containing the same content, but both posts written by different authors. From his perspective he thought it was funny that he caught someone using their alt reddit account, and let the user know that he saw it by replying to the content with a link to an image of the two notifications side by side together.


Rain argues that he never looked at the account before posting the image, nor did he intend to dox the user. However, his action was seen as an attempt to dox the user, who was from Acadia. As a result of this, people called for Rain to be banned from CivClassics.
The new king, ShamelessShamus, explained that he could not do anything to help Rain and the only solution was to wait for the minister to come back online. However, only minutes later, the king took this statement back and offered Rain that if he could visit the Paris Commune to view it, he would re-instate Paris's legitimate existence back into Norlund. Rain found it incredibly suspicious that anyone had to physically be in Paris to declare it was still active, but what else was he to do? He agreed to the offer and sent Shamus the coordinates for Paris. Shamus arrived soon after. Rain had taken off his armor and cleared his inventory of items, fearing for the worst, he knew he couldn't fight even if he wanted to as he was not good at PvP. Shamus followed Rain down the stairs and into the Paris Commune. Rain made a left turn, going down a hall to show a pig farm, opening a chest to retrieve carrots to feed the pigs when he was unexpectedly killed and pearled by Shamus.


Rain counter-argued that he didn't mean to harm, and pointed out that if someone in his situation truly wanted to cause harm that they could. He argued that if his intent actually was to dox this user, then he would have looked through the alt accounts' posts and comments gathering as much details and personal information, compile it together, then publish it publicly - which he did not do.
This event was dubbed "[https://civwiki.org/wiki/Norlund#The_King's_Crime The King's Crime]", and despite what the Norlund page has to say about it, there never was an "argument that broke out between Rain and Shamus that lead to Rain being pearled". They are correct however, that pearling Rain massively divided the nation of Norlund. Rain, who had done nothing wrong, broke no rules, paid all of his taxes, and treated everyone with respect - even the conservative opposition - was randomly pearled by the king of Norlund himself. This quickly raised discussion and fears - who was next? Who would be suddenly pearled by Norlund authorities with no reason provided? Shamus's real motive was to both serve a bounty placed on Rain from a foreign nation, and to remove him, as he was political opposition. This infuriated Norlund citizens even further, that Norlund citizens, let alone the king himself, would pearl eachother to fulfill bounties placed over victimless crimes.


The CivClassics staff team would temporarily ban Rain for one month. This struck less observant users as weird, because doxers are almost always permanently banned. However, the CivClassics staff team believed that doxing the user was accidental, and no personal details were gathered. To calm the community and at the request of Rain, the CivClassics staff team intervened and made a post on their Subreddit explaining the circumstances and situation surrounding their decision<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/r/civclassics/comments/pv6iji/rainie_ban_details/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 CivClassics staff team makes public statement regarding "Rain Ban Detials]"</ref><ref>[https://i.imgur.com/AUhGJoU.png RainOfPain125 modmail to r/CivClassics staff team, requesting them to intervene and make a "formal statement" regarding his ban to clear things up in the community]</ref><ref>[https://i.imgur.com/kSbicOl.png RainOfPain125 modmail to r/CivClassics staff team Part 2]</ref>
Rain fervently opposed this action in the Norlund Discord, making king Shamus look like a fool. Shamus's only defense was empty, unfounded notions that Rain was a threat to Norlund, which he had no evidence to suggest was true.

Fast forward to the 25th of September, 2020, and the infamous Obsidian Bombing of [[CivCorp]] takes place. In the process, Rain is released from his pearl.

====Involvement in the Paris Uprising====

After Rain was unjustly pearled, a new settlement was built directly on-top of the Paris Commune by Norlund in an attempt to replace history and degrade what was formerly there. Only days later, the members of the Paris Commune came together one final time in an effort to get Norlund back for its inaction in seeking justice and letting its own citizens pearl each-other. Rain coordinated obtaining the supplies necessary for the grief, but did not participate or plot it. Rain sent a member of the Paris Commune (who used to be a member of the IWW) on an anonymous alt on a trip to the Arctic. This user met up with a high rank of the IWW who escorted them through long corridors and rings of vaults until they arrived at a package, which was transferred to the Commune member. The package was taken back, and contained all the materials necessary to up-end what was now "Paris".

The other two folks logged on, still inside of the Paris Commune since their last time being online when the unjust pearling had happened. The third arrived and distributed supplies, and they began their work. It turned out that the area was never bastioned, so the grief was even easier than expected for them. Huge casts of lava were made, on-top of stacks of cobblestone, which would have made removing all of the grief incredibly difficult with the falling-cobblestone feature on CivRealms. Plenty of other parts of the area were destroyed, looted, and generally disrespected.

In the end, they had spent two days destroying and having fun in the assumed unsnitched Paris area. Although because of the new rules on CivRealms, it seemed as though their effort may have been in vain, as the rule was, generally, against griefing. Sure enough, after the damage from the uprising had been found, an admin immediately abused to ban everyone involved and rolled-back the damage. Although it was a huge double-standard, since Norlund had griefed and looted our town, but it didn't matter. Everyone involved, including Rain, was tired of CivRealms at this point and gave up - it was their final act on Realms.

Although Universe did not last long, Rain saw it as a new opportunity to create an anarchist group with former members of the IWW, choosing to base in the middle of a dense jungle hoping nobody would find where he was plotting. Although at first, Rain tried to join an existing nation to get a foothold into Universe, joining a small buildfriend nation named [[Wyvern]] with his friend [[UnknownKarnij]] (Milo#2242 on Discord). This did not last long however, as a shitter named prebanned along with another friend stormed into Wyvern, killing Rain with no reason provided besides "because its rain lol", and left, leaving Rain pearled in a random chest in the middle of nowhere, letting the pearl break after a day of not being fueled. Despite doing nothing wrong, the council of Wyvern decided to remove Rain from the town "to stay neutral" and gave him ample time to move his belongings and demolish his house.

So then Rain moved to the jungle, beginning an underground commune that was never declared, named Guthrie Commune (named after Woody Guthrie). Rain at the time also joined another existing nation named "Camertem" in order to have access to factories and potentially to build some cool houses in their nation. However, while swamped with college study and work, he decided to spend his little time visiting a well-established communist nation named Fempire Union, discussing with the owner and members in their public voice chat. Suddenly three members of Camertem joined the voice chat, berating and harassing him verbally. They were asked to leave the voice chat by everyone there and declined. They concluded with removing Rain and UnknownKarnij from Camertem discord and groups. Rain blocked all of them and made sure to steer clear of the crazy folks in Camertem from there on out.

Rain recognized that the server was full of the worst shitters Civ had to offer, and there was a large controversy surrounding the owner Ian_X12. Rain was only shown a small snippet of the evidence against Ian when he first started playing Universe, and decided to give him a fair shot as the server owner. However, the CivUniverse staff team frequently allowed nazis, race-realists, and other alt-right reactionary bullshit to exist nearly unfiltered in the Discord. After enough backlash, Ian stepped in and removed the blatantly racist content, but in return, took an "all sides are bad" approach, abusing to mute Rain for posting Anarchist/Communist propaganda. All of this culminated in Rain giving up on Universe, which luckily for him was a great move considering how Universe turned out. Only later did Rain learn about all the controversies and fucked up things Ian_X12 had said/done, ontop of learning he allowed doxxers, or even well-known pedophiles like TwinkieMiner, to play on his server.

Rain himself claims to be an Anarcho-Communist & Anarcho-Syndicalist, both of which are slightly different in their management of economic affairs. He supports whichever one seems the most fitting for the situation at hand.


Rain claims to be a Platformist & Synthesis Anarchist, despite many of the contradictions between ideologies. Platformism argues that Anarchists should be grouped together based on a common set of ideas and strategy, while Synthesis Anarchism argues all Anarchists should unite despite their ideological differences. He supports Platformism when possible, and Synthesis Anarchism as a backup to achieve economic, military, and political goals.


Rain also supports Queer Anarchism, aka Anarchism as a means of queer liberation and success. Himself and many of his comrade peers are LGBTQIA+.

Critics are quick to point out many of his actions differ from the principles of anarchism. Rain’s anarchist leanings have been questioned by many, including many leftists. Many of his actions have been criticized as contradictory to the principles of anarchist ideology. One such action includes users such as Hiduckhi who have criticized Rain as being an "Anarcho-Monarchist”. Some would argue that his ideas and beliefs at times are contradictory in nature and/or claim that he is out right lying about his true beliefs in order to gain power, using ideology as a velvet glove.

Rain's skin is custom-made by himself, and is a character of himself wearing the highest ranked uniform of his former group, the RoyalArms, hence the letters "RA" on the back of the chest. RainOfPain125, also known as Rain or Rainie, is the founder of the  Industrial Workers of the World on CivRealms and the  The No State Commune on CivClassics. Rain is a controversial player due to various events and political stances.

CivRealms

Rain's first sign on CivRealms

Rain began CivRealms wanting to build, make friends, organize, and in his words “unite the server’s leftists”. His goal on the server was try to “ideologically win”,[citation needed] and decided to build a nation to present as a threat on the server.

Industrial Workers of the World (IWW)

On the January 23rd, 2020 Rain established the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), an organization of anarchist, socialist, and communist countries on the northern continent of Napistan, though the anarchist part is disputed due to later events. Rain chose this area as the northern continent of Napistan was largely unclaimed compared to the rest of the world.

When the IWW was declared on the 23rd of January, Rain recruited players to join the server and began to set up communes in the region. The Commune of Tolstoy, and Commune of Vescau (which was later renamed as Exarchos) were established. At the time, Rain didn’t possess a PC and could only encourage players to move up to the northern continent.

When Rain was able to play, he moved to Tolstoy. He would gather resources and participated in the excavation of a canal to provide easy travel under the North-East Waterways Organization (NEWO).

Later, Rain begun a recruitment campaign utilizing the Anarchist Communist Association discord that he ran. Along with Reddit posts, the IWW grew incredibly quickly, with his advertising becoming some of the highest upvoted content on r/CivRealms[1]

The IWW was a very loose and disorganized group as many did not fully understand the mechanics present on CivRealms. This later lead to the easy bombing of Tolstoy by PartyAnimal with Rain and EmDubleYou being pearled during the bombing. IWW allies from Alexandria came, removed the obsidian, and freed both of their pearls, but the city would go into a period of decline.

Greenland was a new nation which threatened the IWW, demanding that they leave its surrounding land in the center-south of Napistan on the coast. However, players who ran Greenland quit[citation needed] and the IWW extended its claims farther south gaining a carrot farm in the south as a result. This would later lead to a small conflict between MCSpenguin and Rain that lead to Rain being pearled for two weeks.

With Rain temporarily pearled the IWW used the free time to introduce a position that would conduct diplomacy, trade, and facilitate organization in the IWW named the "Union Organizer" or UO, a democratically elected position.

Rain was unpearled after his two weeks was up and proceeded to contribute to the IWW. Sometime later some members of the IWW would make calls to have a vote on a new leader. In doing so, the role of complete ownership came to be titled "Server Organizer" or SO. Folks including Rain, Freezor, Ian, Pierre, and Hiduck ran for the new Server Organizer position. Initially, the opposition against Rain was divided. However, a series of events and manipulation lead to an outcome that elected HeyDuckHi.

At the end of the day Rain honored the vote and transferred ownership of the IWW. Ownership was successfully transferred, but Rain was quickly Ducky's biggest critic, highlighting abusive actions she was committing from day one. This ended up with him getting banned from the IWW discord. After which he’d end up making a critique of the "Insurrectionary IWW" as he called it,[2] which was received negatively by the IWW and the server as a whole.

Rain would leave Napistan as an exile of his own nation. He left, but was supported by his former IWW comrades ADAM and VeryStrange, of which Strange would note their disapproval of Ducky's attitude and leadership style as hostile.[3] Rain was also soon given support by his associate 1234fireball

Norlund Controversy

Rain would end up settling in Norlund. This was suggested by Rain's associate 1234fireball who suggested to him that he should create a town and petition to become a municipality within Norlund. He would end up founding the Paris Commune and the Black Internationale while in Norlund, of which his advertising campaign for the Internationale was wildly successful, and would become the top upvoted post of all time on r/CivRealms[4]

When the Paris Commune was accepted into the government on April 29th, 2020, Rain would immediately face opposition from the majority of Norlund. While this caused widespread public outcry, King Terry of Norlund at the time reacted with indifference. When King Terry of Norlund could no longer play CivRealms, a referendum was held in which Shameless_Shamus became the King of Norlund. Shamus would later "visit" the Paris Commune pretending to be friendly, only to unexpectedly pearl an undefended Rain.

This lead to a massive conflict in the Norlund political system, and resulted in the Norlund civil war.

CivUniverse

Wyvern

Rain saw CivUniverse as an opportunity to begin again. He would end up joining the small building nation of Wyvern with his friend UnknownKarnij. This stint wouldn’t last for long as a user named Prebanned along with a friend decided to travel to Wyvern and kill Rain.

Of course this isn’t the end. He left Rain’s pearl in a random chest in the middle of nowhere and the pearl would proceed to expire the next day. After this to make sure this didn’t happen again the council of Wyvern evicted Rain but gave him time to gather his belongings and demolish his house.

Guthrie Commune

After this he’d move to a jungle with Zombie_Striker where they would both proceed to secretly build an underground commune named after Woody Guthrie. At the same time Rain would join Camertem. Though Rain was very busy with college which prevented him from playing often. He decided to spend some of his precious time to visit the Fempire Union.

He’d join the voice chat of the Fempire Union and hang out while touring the nation, until members of Camertem raided the voice chat and verbally berated Rain for minutes, making tens of accusations and interrogating him randomly in the Fempire voice chat, which made Rain and everyone else there very uncomfortable, with members of Fempire asking them multiple times to leave and take it somewhere else. After a few minutes of screaming and accusing, they ended with saying that Rain and his friends were kicked out of Camertem and not allowed back for no reason provided, with no evidence provided.

Rain got on the nerves of the CivUniverse staff which led to him being frequently muted on both Discord and the CivUniverse global chat. Rain frequently argued with notable player Vespasian who was posting content about race theory among other racist things, resulting him being muted and the eventual removal of the #shitflinging channel on the CivUniverse Discord. Rain also regularly posted and advertised the IWW Discord, however after an investigation by CivUniverse staff in January 2021 they forbade Rain from advertising the IWW, believing that the Discord was not centered around CivUniverse.

CivClassics

Main article: The No State Commune

Rain joined CivClassics in late June of 2021. He spent all of his time in The No State Commune. Mainly building and having fun with friends. He never joined other nations or did much else.

Controversies

Rain has been a subject of several controversies in the Civ community and is generally perceived in negative regards at the very least, and at the most majoritarian disdain by the Civ community at large. The first being the events surrounding the IWW election and how he was hesitant to accept the outcome of a vote he claims was rigged.

"RainofPain" and "RainOfPain126"

Sometime on CivRealms, an unknown player would join on an alt named RainofPain pretending to be him except espousing love for capitalism and the free market.[5]

Another incident involved an account named RainOfPain126 joining CivRealms pretending to be Rain again, this time posting racial slurs in the chat. This got the real Rain in some trouble with the CivRealms staff whom thought he was the one on the alt, and for some time people mistakenly thought of Rain as a racist until it was widely understood what happened. Many less observant players were probably fooled because of how similar the usernames were.

MCSpenguin-RainOfPain125 Conflict

The Industrial Workers of the World had recently gained a new territory named "Greenland" in the south of the Napistan continent which hosted a huge carrot farm, after the previous owners gave up on CivRealms and transferred ownership to the IWW. Rain thought it was time to create a new town named Rojava that would unite the IWW together militarily, economically, and politically, with all railways connecting to it. The idea for the town was received well by most members of the IWW, thus Rain went down south to begin. He wanted to create the town next to the new carrot farm for easy access to food, on his way down he found what he thought was the farm and tried to start building but a bastion prevented him from doing so.

Rain would start to break the bastion thinking nothing of it, because the land was unclaimed on the CivRealms claims map and he IWW was well aware that previous nations tried to survive on the continent yet withered away. Members of the IWW would periodically find abandoned bastions, so Rain thought no different in this situation. It turned out that the bastion belonged to MCSpenguin and the farm he was trying to build next to, which he thought was the recently acquired one, was also Penguins farm.

MCSpenguin would go on to say he caught Rain "with smoking gun in hand" when he found him AFK breaking the bastion, pearling him on the spot. The dispute raged with the main points on Rain's side being that the land was not marked on the claims map, that he was never provided actual coordinates of Greenland's farm, and that he asked chat if anyone lived at the coordinates he was breaking the bastion at. MCSpenguin's side was that Rain should not be breaking random bastions, that Penguin should not have to put his claims on the claims map, and that he replied to Rain's question in chat on his alt.

Consequently Rain was pearled for two weeks and then released unconditionally. Rain was offered an early conditional release if the IWW decided to give up trying to rename the continent to Anarquistica, but that was not Rain's call to make since it was a democratic vote by all members of the IWW, showcasing Penguin's lack of care for the circumstances and situation.[6]

RainOfPain125-Norlund Conflict

Alleged Doxing Incident

Shortly after The No State Commune was raided by Acadia and others, Rain had quit playing CivClassics. Though he remained on the r/CivClassics subreddit making comments. One day Rain noticed on his phone that he received two different notifications to a post he made, both posts containing the same content, but both posts written by different authors. From his perspective he thought it was funny that he caught someone using their alt reddit account, and let the user know that he saw it by replying to the content with a link to an image of the two notifications side by side together.

Rain argues that he never looked at the account before posting the image, nor did he intend to dox the user. However, his action was seen as an attempt to dox the user, who was from Acadia. As a result of this, people called for Rain to be banned from CivClassics.

Rain counter-argued that he didn't mean to harm, and pointed out that if someone in his situation truly wanted to cause harm that they could. He argued that if his intent actually was to dox this user, then he would have looked through the alt accounts' posts and comments gathering as much details and personal information, compile it together, then publish it publicly - which he did not do.

The CivClassics staff team would temporarily ban Rain for one month. This struck less observant users as weird, because doxers are almost always permanently banned. However, the CivClassics staff team believed that doxing the user was accidental, and no personal details were gathered. To calm the community and at the request of Rain, the CivClassics staff team intervened and made a post on their Subreddit explaining the circumstances and situation surrounding their decision[7][8][9]

The user would later go on to say that they would not pre-ban Rain from his server, because "The dox was real but I do not believe it was intended as one."[10] The alt username and time that the incident occurred will not be added for privacy and safety.

It is rumored that Rain is banned on CivRealms, however no evidence was ever provided to support this claim.

CivUniverse

After CivUniverse closed, owner Ian_X12 banned Rain, after the server had already closed, for doxing on July 20th, 2021.[11]

CivRev

Rain was permanently banned from CivRev for "Have a good day."[12]

CivMC

Rain is permanently banned from CivMC for "past activities", most likely because of the Owain incident.

Beliefs

Rain himself claims to be an Anarcho-Communist & Anarcho-Syndicalist, both of which are slightly different in their management of economic affairs. He supports whichever one seems the most fitting for the situation at hand.

Rain claims to be a Platformist & Synthesis Anarchist, despite many of the contradictions between ideologies. Platformism argues that Anarchists should be grouped together based on a common set of ideas and strategy, while Synthesis Anarchism argues all Anarchists should unite despite their ideological differences. He supports Platformism when possible, and Synthesis Anarchism as a backup to achieve economic, military, and political goals.

Rain also supports Queer Anarchism, aka Anarchism as a means of queer liberation and success. Himself and many of his comrade peers are LGBTQIA+.

Critics are quick to point out many of his actions differ from the principles of anarchism. Rain’s anarchist leanings have been questioned by many, including many leftists. Many of his actions have been criticized as contradictory to the principles of anarchist ideology. One such action includes users such as Hiduckhi who have criticized Rain as being an "Anarcho-Monarchist”. Some would argue that his ideas and beliefs at times are contradictory in nature and/or claim that he is out right lying about his true beliefs in order to gain power, using ideology as a velvet glove.

Rain outside of the Civ genre is a freelance Media & Graphic Designer, he enjoys making Civ propaganda as a way to practice his skills and improve. He also likes to manage and organize communities, almost all of which are political in nature such as the Anarchist Communist Association.
