Anarchist propaganda that Rain recycled. The original image says "good" cops and bad cops. However, it was not well received in its original format and thus changed. RainOfPain125, also known as Rain or Rainie, is the original founder of the Industrial Workers of the World. Check the infobox on the right for other founded projects.

CivRealms

Rain began CivRealms as a brand new, skeptical yet adventurous player. Wanting to build, make friends, organize, and unite the leftist community. His goal on the server was try to ideologically "win" CivRealms by convincing the general player-base that Anarchism as an economic and social ideology not only works, but that it is the most successful or preferable system of organizing and having fun.

Rain knew he would need a lot of help to organize. The conclusion was to build an international unifying organization that gathered enough members and resources to defend themselves if presented with a threat by any of the reactionary users or groups on the server.

Rain had already recruited some players together to join the server and begin setting up communes. Rain instructed new members to settle in Napistan, understanding that trying to contest existing claims would probably get the organization killed, and the large northern island of Napistan was largely uninhabited compared to the rest of the world. Thus the Commune of Tolstoy was founded by Zazorg on January 7th 2020[1]. Another commune Vescau (Later re-branded Exarchos) was founded around the same time. When these communes were founded, Rain did not possess a computer and thus could not play CivRealms, merely helping to organize the group and encouraging players to move up to the northern isolated continent to begin their journeys there.[2]

In doing so, on the 23rd of January 2020 Rain declared[3] the Industrial Workers of the World, an organization of anarchist, socialist, and communist nations/collectives/communes. All existing groups were welcome to join.

The Industrial Workers of the World!

When Rain was again able to play, he moved to Tolstoy, contributing to mining, and the excavation of a new river that would span the continent and provide easy travel under the newly founded North-East Waterways Organization, or NEWO, a construction group ran by Zazorg. Tolstoy started to become the heart of the IWW, the main town that members would stay around and contribute to. Around this time is when a lot of recognizable faces of the IWW appeared such as EmDubleYou, EnderWorldDragon, ExcaliburSword, Narhwal_19, fantasyworm, Lowtuff, Lannister, and buystamps.

After much of the basic organizing had been finished Rain had retrieved his gaming computer. He committed to a recruitment campaign, utilizing his already existing community the Anarchist Communist Association along with Reddit posts across many large and small anarchist/socialist subreddits that quickly attracted new members to the IWW.[4] Due to the massively successful recruitment drive, the IWW rapidly grew to become one of, if not the largest nation on CivRealms. Though this presented a major problem to Rain, as many new players would leave early, not understanding Civ and finding it confusing or frustrating. Rain would later make a large Google doc containing all the information about mechanics and plugins, updating and changing it around as he switched from Realms to Universe to Classics.

The Tolstoy Bombing

The IWW was overall, a very loose and disorganized group. Not because members did not agree ideologically, but because many did not fully understand the mechanics present on CivRealms which later lead to the easy bombing of Tolstoy by PartyAnimal (later revealed to be Vanax). Rain and EmDubleYou were pearled in the bombing incident, as Vanax wanted to "purge the commies". However a large coalition of fighters from Alexandria led by TTastic and other forces arrived to investigate and help. PartyAnimal logged before coalition forces got to the bunker, and the two were freed from their pearls.[5]

RainOfPain125-MCSPenguin Incidient

Rain continued to grind and build until he fully understood the RealisticBiomes plugin, now understanding that most of the continent could not grow any crops, he sought to expand the IWW's claims across Napistan to more land that was arable enough to grow carrots.

Conveniently, a nation named "Greenland" threatened the IWW, claiming they shouldn't touch their area in the center-south of Napistan along the coast. 1-2 days later, the two people who ran Greenland quit the server, though not before giving up their group to a member of the IWW.[6]

Thus IWW inherited a large carrot farm. Happy with the details, Rain decided he wanted to build a coastal town near the farm to increase trade and access to arable land. He picked a spot that he thought was only a couple hundred or so blocks from the farm. Rain mined his way underground in an effort to build a railroad towards the new planned location, but realized the area was bastioned. A mix of things culminated in Rain breaking MCSPenguin's bastions.

Rain's side
  1. Rain assumed it was leftover bastions from the long-dead Maelstrom nation, the only nation to have lived on Napistan before the IWW. It was already previously agreed among members of the IWW to clear any remaining Maelstrom bastions on the continent, and thus he started breaking.[7][8][9][10]
  2. MCSPenguin did not announce or mark their claims on the worldmap, which otherwise would have prevented this.[11]
  3. Rain also announced in world chat that he found a bastion in Napistan. Only one person asked where the coords were, so Rain provided coords. Rain assumed the coords were alright, because the person who asked proceeded to log off, indicating there was no trouble. The person who asked for coords happened to be MCSPenguin's alt. The proof of this has been lost, but MCSPenguin does not deny that this occurred.
  4. Rain was provided incorrect coordinates.
MCSPenguin's side
  1. Rain had no business breaking random bastions, and it was his responsibility to ensure that they were unowned bastions (despite trying to ensure it)
  2. Rain was at the wrong coordinates, and should have checked them first.

IWW Rigged vote regarding ownership

While Rain was away pearled, he discussed and came up with the idea to create a new position named "Union Organizer". Union Organizers were to do exactly that - help organize and facilitate things between communes. Rain ran the election, and it ended with Adam and VolutionFS working together with Rain to organize and run the IWW.

At some point members of the IWW, being anarchists opposed to authority, joked that "nobody elected Rain". Jokes soon turned into a serious discussion on whether or not the ownership over the entire IWW discord and in-game group should be democratically elected. Despite Rain being fiercely against the concept of transferring complete ownership to someone who could ruin the project, it was decided that the position of owner should be democratically elected, which prompted a vote to elect a new Server Organizer.

Many folks including Rain, Feezor, ian, Pierre and Hiduckhi ran for the new position.[12] Initially, the opposition to Rain was divided between Ian, Feezor and Hiduckhi, which would have made Rain the clear winner with the most votes.

However, suspiciously the results

  1. Changed dramatically two days after the vote was announced
  2. Within just an hour
  3. AND they all declined to choose a 4th or 5th rank for their vote.[13][14][15][16][17][18]

Due to certain circumstances, a user named EnderWorldDragon was the creator of the actual google form where the vote was held. Because of this, EnderWorldDragon was able to collaborate with the opposition to manipulate the vote results, by deleting the existing votes and having people re-cast a new vote. This way the opposition against Rain could concentrate all of their votes into one candidate. However, nowhere did it say users were allowed to re-cast their votes. And there was no prior precedent that this was allowed, as no vote before this allowed re-submitting your answers.

In response to being exposed for their obvious rigging of the vote, they said it was excusable because Rain personally DM'd people asking them to go and vote in the democratic process. It is known that they sought to rig the election by deleting and recasting votes, because the person who created the vote, EnderWorldDragon, admitted it[19]

Heyduckhi won the election by a single vote. Rain ultimately honored the vote and transferred ownership of the IWW, regardless of the rigging.

Criticism of the Insurrectionary IWW

The Crab Coup (Led by Ian/5492 and Heyduckhi) transferred snitches and bastions from the IWW group to a different private group. Supposedly for "in the event that Rain refuse to abdicate."

After being democratically defeated, Rain was ousted and banned from the IWW after criticizing the new leadership, arguing they were doing similar actions akin to the NSDAP, going after political opponents and silencing or banning them. Rain left Napistan with two of his supporters. Rain went on to write a long Reddit post, essentially detailing If anyone had the most vested interest in the operation running smoothly as intended, it would be the one who founded it. Giving up ownership and hoping that the new ownership will be trustworthy or be a good-actor is a game of complete chance, and the chance of getting a bad-actor as owner is inevitable provided you vote to change owners enough. Rain was right: This was precisely one of the reasons the IWW later collapsed, changing hands of ownership allowed for slip ups and power trips to grip the nation, as well as becoming more lenient on allowing non-socialists into the IWW, the group becoming overran by liberals.[citation needed]

Citizen of Norlund

After being ousted from the IWW, Rain retreated to the mainland continent, wandering, following the advice of 1234fireball who suggested that he could move into Norlund territory, start a new town, and then could petition to join the Norlund government as a new autonomy (or "municipality"). Rain went ahead and followed this advice, establishing a new life in the far north-west, which was almost the same in climate to Napistan, featuring the same boring snow and hills. Rain chose the most useless and isolated region of Norlund, believing nobody would care about the land and leave him alone, and began the Paris Commune, being approved into the Norlund government shortly thereafter.

Soon Rain founded the Black Internationale, an organization with a heavier emphasis on anarchism and resisting authority. Although he was beginning to get tired of CivRealms, and chose not to mass-advertise the BI as heavily as he did with the IWW. Despite not going as hard on advertising as the IWW, the BI happened to get even more popular traction on Reddit than the IWW did, garnering much more upvotes. The Paris Commune started to accumulate members, with 10 active members at its peak. It was a mostly underground commune, with a tunnel dug at Y=0 to the factory capital of Norlund, Kannin. From there, Rain and the members of the Paris Commune could start to efficiently progress.[citation needed]

Norlund Controversy

Rain was almost instantly faced with opposition when the Paris Commune was accepted into the government. The king at the time did not know who Rain was, and accepted him. A vocal minority, the conservative citizens of Norlund, protested this as they were already familiar with Rain due to prior actions. Rain subsequently posted Anarchist propaganda within the Norlund community, in an attempt to convince Norlunders of Anarchist ideology and its legitimacy. The opposition in Norlund called it spam in an effort to try and get Rain warned or punished, and Rain's position in the Norlish community worsened.

Original borders of The No State Commune

Things escalated for Rain when a member of Norlund posted a bounty against him, which was unheard of in Norlund at the time. Rain along with members of Norlund protested this, insisting it was out of order to put a bounty on other Norlund citizens. The person was convinced to remove the bounty, but the damage had been done as the situation was escalating setting the stage for the climax of the escalation to come.

At some point, the Norlund kingdom dissolved as the king could no longer play CivRealms, dubbed the "Death of King Terry and Constitutional Crisis". In his absence, a referendum was announced on choosing a new owner of Norlund. After the results were tallied, a new leader named ShamelessShamus become the leader of the Norlund government. In a few days, a minister of Norlund suddenly and randomly declared in the Discord that the Paris Commune was "now Norlund national territory" because of "prolonged inactivity". By the time Rain got online to protest this decision, the minister was offline.

In reaction to Rain's protesting, the new king Shamus argued that he had no authority over the matter, and that we would all have to wait for the minister to come back online. But only minutes later did the king take it back, claiming something along the lines of "if you give me coords and let me check out the Paris Commune, then I'll personally reinstate your status as a municipality". Rain knew this was extremely suspicious behavior, believing the king was probably going to try and pearl him, he decided to put all of his armor and belongings away into chests, to look as defenseless as possible -

Rain was both terrible at PvP and lacked any serious armor or weapons to fight back anyways. When Shamus arrived, he pretended to be casual and friendly and was led down into the commune bunker by Rain. As soon as Rain opened a chest to get carrots for feeding pigs in his underground farm, Shamus killed and pearled him.

This was an extremely controversial event for Norlund and ShamelessShamus due to Rain being a Norlish citizen and the pearling being an extrajudicial killing. This event was dubbed "The King's Crime" and caused major unrest in the nation of Norlund. Despite Rain having hurt nobody, paying Norlund taxes, and following all of the Norlund rules, he was pearled and given off to someone else. Apparently the king of Norlund was fulfilling a bounty on one of his own subjects.

Rain fervently opposed this action in the Norlund Discord, arguing it was extremely out of line for a citizen of Norlund to pearl another citizen, especially for the king to be pearling his own citizens. Shamus's defense was that Rain was a threat to Norlund but couldn't provide any evidence to substantiate this claim. Later on CivUniverse he still holds that it was a good decision.[20]

The ends result of The King's Crime was that King Shamus attempted to coup Norlund, securing a chunk of territory for himself branding it as a new nation in the process.

Fast forward to the 25th of September, 2020, and the infamous Obsidian Bombing of CivCorp takes place. In the process, somebody releases Rain from his pearl.

Involvement in the Paris Uprising

After Rain was pearled, a new settlement was built directly on top of the Paris Commune by Norlund in an act of destruction and an attempt to remove the history of Paris. Days later, the members of the Paris Commune came together one final time in an effort to get revenge on Norlund. Rain unknowingly obtained the supplies necessary for the uprising, as the former members of Paris asked Rain to gather a shipment of cargo from the Napistan territories. Rain took an anonymous alt on a trip to Napistan. This user met up with a high rank of the IWW named ADAM, who escorted them through long corridors and rings of vaults until they arrived at a package, which was transferred to Rain. The package was taken back, and contained all the materials necessary to "fix" what was now "Paris".

Two users logged on, still inside of the Paris Commune since their last time being online. A third arrived to distribute supplies, and they began their work. It turned out that the area was not bastioned, so the uprising was conducted with ease. Huge casts of lava were made, on-top of stacks of cobblestone, which would have made removing all of the uprising's success incredibly difficult with the falling-cobblestone feature on CivRealms. Plenty of other parts of the area were destroyed, looted, and disrespected, devastating the fake town that was built on top of the Paris Commune.

In the end over the course of two days the three destroyed the unsnitched unbastioned Paris area. Although due to the poorly established rules on CivRealms, their efforts to form an uprising in the method done by the Paris comrades was supposedly "banned". Staff abused to ban all players involved in the uprising, and even Rain who did not participate directly. Everyone involved including Rain was tired of CivRealms at this point and gave up - it was their final act on Realms. Some months later CivRealms would suffer its fate and die off as a server.

CivUniverse

Wyvern

Although Universe did not last long, Rain saw it as a new opportunity to create an anarchist group with former members of the IWW, notably ZombieStriker, choosing to base in the middle of a dense jungle hoping nobody would find them. Although at first, Rain tried to join an existing nation to get a foothold into Universe, joining a small buildfriend nation named Wyvern with his friend UnknownKarnij from CivRealms.

This did not last long however, as a shitter named prebanned along with another friend stormed into Wyvern, killing Rain with no reason provided besides "because its rain lol" and left, leaving Rain pearled in a random chest in the middle of nowhere, letting the pearl break after a day of not being fueled. Despite doing nothing wrong, the council of Wyvern decided to remove Rain from the town "to stay neutral" and gave him ample time to move his belongings and demolish his house.

Camertem

So then Rain moved to the jungle, beginning an underground commune that was never declared, named Guthrie Commune (named after Woody Guthrie). Rain at the time also joined another existing nation named Camertem in order to have access to factories and potentially to build some cool houses in their nation. However, while swamped with college study and work, he decided to spend his little time visiting a well-established communist nation named Fempire Union, discussing with the owner and members in their public voice chat.

Suddenly three members of Camertem joined the voice chat, yelling, berating and harassing him verbally. The members of Camertem were asked to leave the voice chat by everyone but they refused. They concluded with removing Rain and UnknownKarnij from Camertem discord and groups. Rain blocked all of them and made sure to steer clear of the hostile folks in Camertem from there on out.

Exodus

Rain recognized that the server was full of the worst shitters Civ had to offer, and there was a large controversy surrounding the owner Ian_X12. Rain was only shown a small snippet of the evidence against Ian when he first started playing Universe, and decided to give him a fair shot as the server owner. However, the CivUniverse staff team frequently allowed nazis, race-realists, and other alt-right reactionary bullshit to exist nearly unfiltered in the Discord.

After enough backlash, Ian stepped in and removed the blatantly racist content, but in return, took an "all sides are bad" approach, abusing to mute Rain for posting Anarchist/Communist propaganda. All of this culminated in Rain giving up on Universe, which luckily for him was a great move considering how Universe turned out. Only later did Rain learn about all the controversies and fucked up things Ian_X12 had said or done, including allowing doxxers or even well-known pedophiles like TWinkieMiner to play on his server.

After-the-fact

Ian_X12 came back many months later to announce that Rain was banned from Universe for "doxxing" despite Universe not existing anymore nor Rain being involved anymore.[citation needed]Though this was most likely an effort for Ian to try and save some face after the long strew of controversies surrounding him and his server.

CivClassics

The No State Commune

ZombieStriker, having been the leader of the successor to the IWW on CivRealms (the BSR) became friends with Rain playing CivUniverse. CivUniverse died and Rain took a hiatus, while Zombie went on to play CivClassics joining Acadia. After some time Rain decided to join Classics. Zombie is a very respectable, friendly, and nice person, and offered to help setup TNSC and provide some materials. Zombie seemed well-trusted in Acadia, gaining the position of Minister of the Interior. Despite her powers in Acadia, Rain nor the TNSC ever had Zombie vandalize or inside the nation, as that did not align with who they were or how they act.

Tensions from Acadia

Acadia as owned and ran by Cortwade, who as apart of the Norlund government on CivRealms. This as a very awkward situation because Rain chose to border Acadia when picking a place to settle and form TNSC. Cortwade and his peer JuniorTide were hardline anti-communists who already seemed to hate Rain. On his first week, Rain was already accused of sign-bombing JuniorTide's house ith communist propaganda. However, JuniorTide has little to no knowledge of leftist ideology, as the signs were clearly State Socialist leaning, with messages like "NORTH KOREA BEST KOREA" and so forth - something an Anarchist would not write.[21]

Rumors of Rain asking players to raid Acadia

As Rain began recruiting for TNSC, most if not all of the recruits were new to Civ and had no idea how it worked. Many of them thought of raiding buildings they found along the way to the commune. However, there was a hardline effort to discourage raiding. It was said multiple times and emphasized to not raid other nations, or to interact with Acadia. One of the members had destroyed an Acadian chest to loot it and was caught later on. Rain demanded that the user turn themselves in and return the items they stole. Another user named Pentigrass, who is from the Anarchist Communist Association, is an extreme drama queen who went out of their way to try and fabricate things. Most notably, after trying to raid Icenia after being told not to, Pentigrass lied and claimed that Rain commanded him to do it. He thought that lying and saying Rain told him to would get him a lesser or removed sentence. When Rain confronted Pentigrass, he admitted to it in DMs to which Rain showed Icenian officials, leading to Pentigrass staying pearled.[22]

Acadia & others raid against TNSC

On the 28th of July 2021 Egi, JuniorTide, and another unfamiliar used named Polygondwana broke into the TNSC bunker and raided all the chests they came into contact with, effectively stealing all of the newfriend towns array of tools, 250+ diamonds, 50+ debris, among other things.[23][24] They published their excuse to the subreddit, after TNSC plead to the international stage asking for help.

In the same day Okx, TTastic, and MrJeremyFarmer launched an attack against the already well-raided TNSC. They attacked multiple members of the commune, chasing and being fixated on the members until they all logged off to save themselves.[25][26][27]

The supposed Worker's of Acadia Party scandal

A user named FE_FLAGS ran a leftist party in Acadia, a fairly small one named Worker's of Acadia Party. Apparently Flags tried to make a deal with ZombieStriker, offering to give her resources and items if in return Rain helped recruit members for Acadia who would join their party. There is no evidence to suggest Rain knew of, or approved of this deal. There is no evidence to suggest Zombie ever agreed to the deal, or evidence of Zombie ever receiving any resources, or evidence of Rain recruiting anyone into Acadia for the party. Overall, it is merely a rumor.[citation needed]

Despite a total lack of evidence, the Acadian government decided to remove the friendly ZombieStriker and considered her problematic.[citation needed]

The "doxxing" of Owain

Owain accidently replied to one of Rain's comments on Reddit with his alt account. He deleted the comment and then made another comment with the same text, except on his main account. Rain noticed the two accounts sending the same message, because it was saved in his phone notifications despite Owain deleting the alt comment. Rain thought it was funny that he caught someone slipping up, and showed Owain that he knew about the slip up. Owain did not find this funny at all and quickly deleted his alt account. Rain did not investigate or check the account, but supposedly it was more personal to his real world life. Rain apologized, never having meant any harm. Acadia and others took this small incident and blew it out of proportion, slandering Rain as a doxxer that should get banned.

Rain was banned from CivClassics, although unlike "real" doxxers he was not perm-banned but instead banned for three months. The Classics staff team knew Rain had no malicious intent and didn't mean to cause harm onto Owain. Rain never talked to Owain or knew him at all before this incident, there was no feud or beef.

Rain had nothing against Owain and had no reason to be out to get him. If Rain had the intention to doxx and hurt Owain, he would have told nobody about the account, looked through all of the account history, and compiled all of Owain's personal details or other doxxing material to publish publicly.

Rain's enemies tried to use this to defame him as a doxxer, but these accusations were beaten back by an official statement by the CivClassics staff team, made at the request of Rain.

Transfer of ownership of TNSC

After getting all of our belongings stolen and destroyed, Rain had given up on CivClassics. He stopped playing for about two months, but decided to transfer ownership of the group to the most active member, Samsung Fridge, after realizing he was still active on the server. In order to do so, Rain had to log on for a brief few minutes to dump everything out of his inventory and transfer the ownership of the in-game group. At the same time, Rain asked his friend Karnij to get on and store his stuff as well, before enemies could get on and hunt them down. Both vowed to never log in again.[citation needed]

Despite not associating with TNSC for over two months, three members of Acadia decided storm into TNSC territory. They were told over and over to leave the area and refused. The raiders tried to break into some buildings, placed some blocks, and did minor griefing. In the end, they suddenly decided to pearl all of the online TNSC members for no reason, then released them some time later. They argued that because Rain had supposedly doxxed Owain, that they were assisting in keeping him safe by not killing him or telling them where he logged off at. Samsung tried to use Rain's logoff location as a betting chip, but got nothing out of it. In the end, Samsung had no clue where Rain logged and was merely bluffing to try and get Acadia to stop riding their ass.[citation needed]

Skin

Rain's skin is custom-made by himself, and is a character of himself wearing the highest ranked uniform of his former group, the RoyalArms, hence the letters "RA" on the back of the chest. The lines on the sides of the arm are supposed to represent his rank as HHR-5, or HierHighRank-5 of the RA. There are also golden epaulets that adorn his shoulders, signifying him as a high rank and/or a military official. Although the RoyalArms is now defunct, he enjoys the skin enough to keep it around.
