Al-Qutiya is a small nation on the CivMC server. Al-Qutiya inhabits the border between the (-,+) and (+,+) quadrants, bordering the Arsenio Pact to the east, The Islamic Caliphate to the north, and the Kingdom of ErrorL to the west. Al-Qutiya was founded on June 4th, 2022 by vordhosbnn.

History

Al-Qutiya was proclaimed on June 4th, following the exploration of the region and subsequent discussion of control of the area with the neighboring Arsenio Pact. It is said that the nation was founded on the near-abandoned ruins of another civilization, after the Qutiyans traveled from their similarly barren homeland. It is believed that Al-Qutiya's name is derived from an exonym of the previous inhabitants of the region, although little is known about not only the civilization that inhabited the land before them, but also the origins of the Qutiyans themselves.

Geography

The land that Al-Qutiya inhabits ranges from badlands, to savannahs, to deserts. This lack of arable land has led to a famine in the still-developing nation (as of June 6th, 2022), as the only reliable food source has been kelp gathered from the sea, which is subsequently dried and eaten. The main center of activity in the nation is Jazirat Qadib Alqital (English: Dick Fight Island), a sizeable island located in the southeast portion of the nation.

Government

Since the establishment of the nation, a Provisional Government was enacted to oversee the creation of stability in the region. vordhosbnn, head of state, has claimed that a new governmental system would be decided on after the national founding crisis has been resolved, with those who helped build Al-Qutiya coming together to decide on how to nation should be governed.

Culture

Al-Qutiya's culture, architecture, and history were all inspired by the period of Islamic control in Iberia. The nation hopes to create old Moorish-style buildings, as well as buildings inspired by newer Spanish architecture to represent the blending of cultures in the region.
