The Great Western Bay is an independent country based in the Great Western Bay region in Western Deluvia. The national identity of the Great Western Bay evolved over time after the gradual re-settlement of the Bay after the fall of Otonabee. This is why in some older texts the Great Western Bay is also referred to as Otonabee Bay. The Bay identity is built from the cooperation and integration of the different People's of the Bay into one unified identity.

History

Prehistory

Otanobee Bay was once inhabited solely by the Otanobeans but likely due to disease, internal conflict and crop failure vanished from the Bay. Although later re-settlers of the Bay do claim some Otanobean heritage, bar the Elyriani, this is a very tiny fraction and largely unknown to many citizens.

The Bay was slowly re-settled by migrants from the West, this group would eventually go onto form Withervale, the first resettler polity to be recognised by the outside world on the 18 November 2023, when the new polity joined the Imperial Federation. Additionally there was also the Landshutters whose origins are unknown who briefly occupied some of Southern Withervale before like the Otanobeans, disappearing. Withervale is the largest and most populous state of the Great Western Bay, it has largely held this status throughout the entirety of the Bay's history since its founding.

The origins of Malasana are more obscure, it seems the people here were ancestors of some of the modern day Imperial Karydians and came from the Eastern Imperial Federation after the fall of Otanobee. This territory is nowadays known as Alcantara. Around the same time other settlers from the East, mainly from Nalora founded the settlement that would become to be known as Groveheart, which would go onto become 1 of the 2 major states in the Great Western Bay.

The Elyriani had a slightly more recent arrival than the other groups. They came as refugees from across the seas, in a land so far it cannot be reached by non-dimensional travellers. There old homeland was destroyed by the invasion of the grand lichdom with its armies of the dead. The Elyriani arrived at what is known as Elyras island and settled Elyris. Overtime the Elyriani have become more closely integrated with Groveheart, with a permenant Elyriani representative on the Groveheart council. There are several Elyriani settlements, 2 in the Bay and 1 in Reggio.
