The Lead Up

The roots of the LADS conflict stem from a myriad of topics, from deep-rooted dislike between parties, lesser aggression(illegal reconnaissance/snitching), propaganda campaigns, and full aggression(murder/theft/pearling). Above all, there was no moral-highground held by one side or the other - both parties withheld the location of known criminals, administrated resources to them, and allowed for them to safely walk the streets of their cities despite their criminal past(e.g. shadowjay1, OrangeGiraffe1 with the LADS/DukeStonezy and others with the opposite forces.).

The Event's Name

The LADS war (or, HCF war 2.0, Now With More Democracy!)

Account

The war is changing every day. Therefor, until a break in the conflict, or a period of time in which we can assemble a account, read the sub.

The conflict ended a little over 8 hours ago (at this time of writing) when the LADS disbanded on the date specified above.

Suspicions of Cheating

NJPalms(of the LADS) was banned for a combination of Sprint Modifications and Forcefield, while Dan_Aykroyd(Of the HCF/Anti-LADS Force) was banned for using Sprint Modifications. Also, Phacad3, Foxace36, and Nuckehead, all three of the HCF force, were accused of using VPN's to bypass the server's imprisonment system.

General Effects

During the conflict, many people were affected in a less than satisfying way - dozens had to switch from peace-time production towards a more combat-friendly production model(FAGT alone produced multitudes of sets of prot, potions, and potion ingrediants the week prior to the battle of Duck City). Many people simply had to change their playstyle completely to avoid being murdered, pearled, and robbed - this applies to couriers, wheat-botters(macromod users), salesmen, and essentially anyone that had to leave their comfort zones. Due to this, a few people have quit the game due to the harsh climate and environment that had taken hold over the server.

Following the end of the confict, The LADS have dissolved; many of their members quitting the game "permanently" - they no longer express any interest in playing the server as they feel that it is fundamentally flawed, currently. The Anti-LADS group, broadly speaking, splintered into sub-groups and otherwise returned back to their places of residences, to carry on their in-game lives as usual. One positive outcome of the war is that international relations are now very high between the Anti-LADS participators, and, besides petty griefings by non-notable criminals, the server is currently flourishing in peace.

Political and Economic effects

Politically, the parliament of the CW collapsed quickly after the first invasion, leading to the now former CEO of Delivero, lord_perricorp to become PM, for only 24 hours, and resign in disgust due to, in his words, that, among other things, that he could not handle the events transpiring before him (including the deceleration of war against his friend Peter, a member of the CW, and later MP), and "I believe neither group should be supported unless they can prove to play with a certain moral value and claim transparency". Malice976, later a citizen of Orion, involved with more recent events, became PM, and posted that he was negotiating with the LADS. The negotiations apparently went over well, as the LADS later paid reps for their grief in the CW. Due to all of this and later events, among other issues, the parliament hasn't done much since January, and indeed still has not elected a Prime Minister after their last one, Malice, went to Orion and became involved there.

Many citizens, due to these attacks have left the various cities CW experienced this especially hard, with most of their citizens leaving for "safer" areas. Many left for Orion, and became involved there, or Nexus, and also became involved. Nexus has remained relatively stable, population wise. Orion (and CW, to an extent, when Peter was being looked for), however, has seen a decline in active players, most out of fear they'll be attacked when the LADS come looking for "trespassers" such as Seldomshock, the Orion President and statesman.

Economically, the effects have been felt quite a bit. Delivero dissolved, and FellowShip has temporarily shut down, pending reorganization. Trade in most cities has dried up, especially in the once very active Orion economic area, causing quite a few shop owners to see depressed profits, or even shut their shops all together. It may have to do with the less people travling on the CIC and other rails, due to murders and griefers attacking people on them, causing the people who aren't even in the affected cities to feel the effects of this battle. Many citizens in Orion have ended up in economic distress through the LADS killing them, and griefing thir buildings, even if they were not involved in any crimes at all, nor charged with anything.

The full effects have yet to be seen, but will be felt for quite some time to come. An end to the war may not be for a month or more.
