Lyrean Commonwealth

The Lyrean Commonwealth is a collective union of nation-states established in April 2024, spanning northwestern Vinteria and southern Impendia around the Lyrean Sea on CivMC.

History

The Commonwealth was established on April 16, 2024 as a successor alliance to the defunct Lyrean Community, with initial charter signatories including the Empire of Pavia, the High Kingdom of Griffin, and the Duchy of Amboise. The Charter established a common defence and foreign policy while preserving the autonomy of each sovereign state within the Commonwealth. These states would be unified through a shared Imperial Council made up of each member government's representatives and the sovereign personage of the Lyrean Emperor, an elected position initially filled by paagf I, Emperor of Pavia. The first Commonwealth Summit would occur on April 27 in the Griffin capital of Adria, where discussions were held on joint builds, infrastructure, and recruitment.

On April 28, the Holy Empire of Exyria would accede as the first new state of the Commonwealth, establishing new frontiers deeper into Vinteria. This expansion would be further consolidated on April 29 with the announcement of the Pavian protectorate over the Republic (later Kingdom) of Lambat, acceding its territories to the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth would expand yet again on June 10, 2024, when Pavia's Interim Prime Minister Cissonius delivered an address to the public declaring new protectorates over Moloka and the Deepslate Corporation Isles, expanding Commonwealth holdings in every direction. Additionally, the Sovereign Nation of Dirt was fully annexed into Pavia's Crownland, bringing the Commonwealth even further into southern Impendia. The Interim PM also indicated a desire to begin accession talks with the neighboring Mehri, who until then stood as a theoretical overland barrier between the northern and southern halves of the Commonwealth.

Member Nations

Joining the Lyrean Commonwealth requires the majority approval of all member states, who each receive one (1) vote in the Imperial Council on matters of membership and foreign affairs. Any treaties that nation is subject to will also be voted on and either discarded or approved and raised to whole-Commonwealth jurisdiction. Each nation is subject to the seven (7) Core Principles outlined in the Charter: Defense & Unity, Cultural Enshrinement, Infrastructure Development, Economic Cooperation & Integration, Transparency & Communication, Freedom of Movement, and Equality & Upliftment.
