The Doom City Conflict is an ongoing armed conflict initiated on CivMC, having begun on the morning of December 19th, 2023. The initial conflict was sparked with an escalation at the border between MTA & Doom City, where a bridge between the 2 nations was covered in obsidian during a fight between BUILD & Doom City fighters. This escalation was following numerous examples of increasing tensions between the two countries and citizens of the BUILD alliance. In later fighting throughout the day, Nightmarr, SymSquid, Defender4488, and SQOpenSpellbook were all pearled in renewed fighting between the two factions; leading Defender4488 to declare that a state of war existed between Doom City and BUILD.

Background

In the aftermath of the Butternut–SEC War, the nation of Cortesia Del Mar was disbanded following the departure of many of its members from CivMC. This left the CDM/Doom portal in disputed territory, with Doom City seeking to negotiate continued access via a preexisting personal iceroad & entry. During negotiations however, Mount Augusta requested that the public entry to the portal be used, which was trapped with a foot-grinder. This resulted in a member of Doom City being killed.

During the latter half of the War of the Icenian Coalition, SymSquid began raiding Arsenia, breaking into a lightly defended factory bunker and looting many of the factories inside. This would lead to a series of events that would eventually conclude with SymSquid being pearled by SQOpenSpellbook and held in the Fempire Union Vault. Reparations for SymSquid to be released were set at "3 stacks of xp, 32dbs, and materials to make a bastion factory OR 32 vbs" however, SymSquid would escape his pearl just prior to the December 19th conflict.

Battle of the Bridge

On the morning of December 19th, a border conflict between Doom City & MTA devolved into violence, as a preestablished FOB on the Doom City side of the river became a staging ground for fighting, resulting in a bridge marking the border being covered with obsidian. As fighting continued, Nightmarr, SymSquid, and Defender4488 were all pearled in fights in MTA, leaving the score at 2-1 in Doom City's favor. Hours later, SQOpenSpellbook was pearled by GGJoe, setting the score at 3-1.

Reactions

Statement of Neutrality

In the hours following the initial battles in MTA, Pavia & Nara would issue a joint statement claiming neutrality both in the present and going forward, and stressing that the absence of other EP nations in the post shouldn't be taken as a sign of involvement.
