Arsenia is a nation situated in the +,+ quadrant of CivMC in Western Alenarith. Arsenia was founded on July 19, 2023 in the lands formerly claimed by the Arsenio Pact. Arsenia is part of BUILD, a multinational alliance striving for peace throughout its nations.
Background
Arsenia was jointly founded by Cliqueston and Erhablee after the Butternut-SEC War, annexing the former Arsenio Pact.
Cliqueston
Cliqueston was founded by SQOpenSpellBook on April 20, 2023 after having issues with its precursor Birmingham.
The United Federation of Birmingham
The United Federation of Birmingham was founded by Janky_Judah on April 8, 2023. He declared himself King of Birmingham, claiming everything within the Judah River. Without knowledge, Janky_Judah settled and was inviting settlers to a land claimed by the Arsenio Pact.
Citizenry and Leadership
After Janky_Judah arrived in Birmingham, he began work on a new home for the citizens of Birmingham to share. Soon, SQOpenSpellBook arrived, becoming the Chancellor of Birmingham. Later, more and more friends of the two arrived in Birmingham. Men and women continued to arrive until the whole friend group arrived. Each citizen was given a role in the leadership of Birmingham. Janky_Judah and SQOpenSpellBook were at the top and the others became heads of various ministries. RebelliousBlade_, RougeDP1819, YaBoyShrekster, Janky_Judah_ (not to be confused with the King), _BaniShed, Crimortar, and WizardGamer2021 were all citizens of Birmingham.
Arsenio Pact's Involvement
Within the same day of April 8th, RougeDP1819, RebelliousBlade_, and SQOpenSpellBook were pearled by various members of the Arsenio Pact.
RougeDP1819
Wanting to explore and gain a knowledge of the newly acquired territory, RougeDP1819 wandered north of the settlement. He stumbled across an Arsenio Pact bunker and jumped in, resulting in him being pearled. Later that day, SQOpenSpellBook went north to where RougeDP1819's pearl was being held, hoping to find a way to retrieve it. However, the same person who pearled RougeDP1819 arrived and chased SQOpenSpellBook away from the location.
Birmingham Massacre
The same day, now night, SQOpenSpellBook and RebelliousBlade_ were building a layered farm. As it was being constructed, Sapienfrfx arrived, telling the duo that more people were on the way, but that he'd keep the settlers safe. A few minutes later, yodabird19 and Oko arrived, outnumbering the two settlers. The Arsenio Pact representatives were kind at first, explaining why a layered wheat farm would not work how we'd expect, but as the night progressed, the trio got more aggressive. After no more than 30 minutes, SQOpenSpellBook and RebelliousBlade_ were pearled by the three people and were stored in Reluctance, the Arsenio Pact's vault. This led to RebelliousBlade_ announcing he would not continue to play the server- the first of many to come. All of this became known locally as the Birmingham Massacre.
Negotiation
Early in the morning of April 9th, SQOpenSpellBook contacted Oko pertaining to the release of the three pearls and to decide what to do with Birmingham. Oko made two offers:
- Birmingham could join the Arsenio Pact as a state where the Arsenio Pact would help Birmingham learn the game and help in the development of the state.
- Birmingham would relocate to another location to retain independence.
Janky_Judah and SQOpenSpellBook opted to join the Arsenio Pact to retain control of their settlement Birmingham with plans to possibly secede in the future if they continued to be treated unfairly by the Arsenio Pact
Outcome
This decision was not well received by the population of Birmingham, who despised the Arsenio Pact for what they did to Birmingham. This led to a loss in a majority of the population. Only SQOpenSpellBook and _BaniShed remained, and they were devastated by the sudden loss in population. For the coming days, they tried to determine the best course of action for Birmingham as Janky_Judah gradually became less active.
Collapse of Birmingham
As the days went by, Janky_Judah became less active. SQOpenSpellBook asked him several times if he could attain primary owner of the Birmingham groups, and Janky_Judah accepted multiple times, but never went through with it, either due to the wish to retain power or by sheer laziness. Over the next week, Janky_Judah became less active as he became less invested in the server, turning to other games.
The Dawn of Cliqueston
As Birmingham took its final breath and died out, SQOpenSpellBook and _BaniShed created a new state in its place.
Replacing Birmingham
When Janky_Judah never gave up primary, SQOpenSpellBook made Oko aware that he intended to "overthrow" Birmingham's government and revitalize it. Oko responded with a vague "okay." SQOpenSpellBook successfully "couped" the previous government without issue on April 18th. _BaniShed and SQOpenSpellBook decided to rename the country while keeping the capital city named "Birmingham." _BaniShed used to own a discord server called "Clique," and _BaniShed wanted to name it after that. However, SQOpenSpellBook thought they should "Americanize" the name by adding "-ston" to the end, leaving them with Cliqueston, which they both loved.
