The Commonwealth of Arcandria (CivMC), also known simply as Arcandria, is a democratic council state that was formed on the 12th of December by former Salerno, Asgard, Lambeau, and Gang Shi citizens in the fallout of the Post-Nut Clarity War. Located primarily on the continent of Deluvia (but maintaining a presence on the Eastern Continent as well), the Commonwealth of Arcandria is a federal commonwealth collectively led by a Council of State, wherein supreme executive and legislative authority resides. At the head of the Council of State is the Council President, elected by all voting citizens of the Commonwealth every four weeks to represent the Council and direct the Council towards collective goals.
Culture, Economy, and Demographics
Arcandria is composed primarily of former Salerno and Lambeau citizens who formed the new nation following the end of the War of the Icenian Coalition which saw most of these nations dissolved and/or integrated into other nations. Salerno was not one of the nations permanently dissolved by the war's end, but most Salernan citizens emigrated to the new nation following it's formation, effectively leading to the dissolution of Salerno as a state.
Politics
The Commonwealth of Arcandria is administrated as a semi-democratic Council State, with four permanent councilors acting as permanent administrators of the nation's major departments. These four councilors all answer to one elected Council President, who serves for a single, non-renewable, four week term. Politics in the Commonwealth is dominated by the five standing councilors and the President, with all other political appointees answerable to the Council as a whole. While the Council President is responsible for directing the council and its executive business, the Council Secretary is a standing councilor responsible for the legislative business of the Council and for inter-departmental coordination, serving alongside four other standing councilors with their own areas of responsibility.
History
Arcandria was founded on the Isle of Brunsvik, a former possession of the CivMC Catholic Church under the brief protection of the Kingdom of Salerno. Since its inception, its capital of Brunsvik has suffered from occasional terrorist attacks by now-inactive former Brunsvik residents, a issue inherited from the Salerno and previously Papal and Southseasian administration of the island.
