The Siege of Sempiternal was a battle in the NATO-Mir war, fought by players from Columbia, Hallow, Rhodesia, and Valyria, against Mir. It took place on the 17th of February, between the hours of 4am and 1pm (EST, Server time) at the Columbia vault, named "Sempiternal".

The siege is considered by NATO to be one of the first significant attempts at an assault by the Mirian forces. As previous engagements have been fought over bunkers.

2 players were pearled during the siege, Doommad (Leader, Valyria), and Godclick (A hacking player) Small skirmishes broke out at the bottom of the vault, however, majority of the fighting occurred between the Columbian sky bunker and the Mirian skybridge at height limit (Y: 255).

Defense of the vault

At 6:34am Shadedoom (Columbia) pinged NATO discord, alerting the alliance Mir had skybridged into the vault. The skybridge had breached all 3 rings of the vault, and had reached a distance of 8 blocks from the skybunker. Mir had successfully broken roughly 10 bastions before before the alert was sent.

At the time of the siege, the Colombian vault was a work in process, which was severely under-finished and under-equipped, lacking many features to defend a vault.

The immediate first respondents (NATO) to the attack were Shadedoom, _SteveBuscemi (Alt of General_Thomas, Rhodesia), Camokool (Hallow), BrunoTheMiner (Hallow). Who all arrived to defend the vault within 10 minutes of the alarm.

The following hour consisted of lite skirmishing and baiting around the vault at bedrock. Mir's forces removed pressure plates and quick access to the vault on the ground level. Mir also attempted to block an ice road and create an area for a ground assault from at the vaults North West corner. However, they soon abandoned this in favour of consolidating their force on the skybridge. Shorty after doing so, NATO reinforcements arrived, notably Doommad, and Hantzu (leader, Hallow).

During the skybridges push into the 8 block bastioned skybunker space, _SteveBuscemi suggested using debuff potions in dispensers to deter the skybridgers. When using splash poisons, this tactic successfully deterred bastion breaking. Combined with archer fire through the bastion breaking holes, it became difficult for Mir to consistently break bastions.

Halfway during the siege, the player named Godclick left the skybunker to pvp. He fought against Ez2Clutch in the water, and kited back to the Columbian vault. When pearling into the vault, he died from fall damage and was subsequently pearled by the Mir fighter.

Mirian skybridge's close proximity to the vault

Some time later, members of Hallow breached the skybridge towards the Mirian bunker. At the same time, Doommad had been shot off the top of the Columbian skybunker, and subsequently pearled. When Mir escorted the pearl to their bunker, Ahri (MTA/Hallow) was almost killed, but managed to evade death.

Mir returned to the forefront of the skybridge, where they were met with a secondary barrage of poison potions. The skybridge managed to get within 4 blocks of the Columbian skybunker, NATO members were able to reach and break blocks of the Mirian skybridge.

Around the 9th hour of the siege, Mir began to withdraw, ending the siege.
