The State of New Detroit is an autonomous territory of the Gensokyojin Royal Confederacy.
History
Establishment
New Detroit was founded on June 1st, 2014, out of the shell of an old crack house traveler's inn, which was refurbished into the city's first home. Under the vigilant leadership of Autocrat Screenname, construction of municipal, commercial, and residential buildings began to expand outward along the banks of the nearby Sanzu River, eventually growing into the current New Detroit City.
Acquisition of Jericho
Detroit later came to an agreement with the nearby town of Jericho, to incorporate it into the State of New Detroit as an autonomous town, in exchange for protection and trade. The agreement was officially endorsed on August 2nd, 2014.
Incorporation into Grundeswald
Ever looking ahead, Detroit's great leader met with the Viceroy of New Salisbury, and without any hesitation agreed to formally incorporate New Detroit and all its controlled territories into the Kingdom of Grundeswald as an autonomous state. The official treaty was signed on August 4th, 2014.
Establishment of Gensokyo
New Detroit would eventually go to found the Heavenly Kingdom of Gensokyo, established initially as a Kingdom in the United Kingdoms of Grundeswald and Gensokyo in September 1st, 2014 and would later go on to become an independent Elector Nation within the Holy Krautchan Empire.
Geography
New Detroit City is situated in the Forest of Magic. It is bordered to the north by the Poco Loco Desert, and bordered to the east by the Sanzu River and one of the world's smallest Ocean biomes, the Sarif Sea.
