The Rift
The Rift is a former nation and now province of Vinland (CivMC) situated in the north-eastern taiga region of Impendia. The region has a strong Nordic culture and semi-flat terrain separated by snowy mountains, and a seemingly disproportionate rate of thunderstorms. The Rift is primarily known for exporting sweet berries and wines.

History
March 2023 - May 2023
The Rift was formed as an independent northern nation on March 30th 2023 by Metropolitan and Squashy and Jones. Following Nordic principles, the very first primitive town (which later became known simply as Circle Town) was created in the region. Not long after The Rift's formation, two of the original founders decided to quit CivMC. As the only leader and remaining citizen of The Rift, Metropolitan_ also decided to leave CivMC until later that year. The Rift was unofficially dissolved in May of 2023.
September 2023
The region of The Rift was claimed by the newly created nation of Jomsborg on September 24th 2023.
October 2023
The citizens and leadership of Jomsborg decided to get rid of Circle Town in October of 2023 according to one account by a former citizen. The town was removed and a pit was created in it's place. It is assumed that this project was intended to become a bunker for Jomsborg. After this event, there were no remaining settlements or residences within the entire region as the land had never been developed prior.
November 2023
Jomsborg became an inactive nation in the months that followed, and in November of 2023, Metropolitan_ and Sadnessabounds reclaimed the land as a new nation known as Order with no pushback, due to the lack of activity from Jomsborg and its citizens. Work began from both players to repair the hole and use the pit as a building site for a new iteration of Circle Town. This site would eventually become Circle Tower, acting as the provincial capitol building of The Rift.
December 2023
After the events that were set in motion during the Grasslands Gambit, fear of attack from northern nations was at an all time high. Metropolitan approached the leadership of Vinland to request that the nation of Order merges with Vinland (CivMC) as a province, in exchange for governance of the region and access to infrastructure and protection. The region returned to it's former name of "The Rift" and became the sixth province of Vinland.
