It borders various nations in its 2 sizeable mainland claims, those being Westesia and Aurellia. Cortesian pre-CivClassic history consists of four years of Cortesian existence on various non-Civ servers, particularly [[Towny]] and nations servers. While these experiences had a profound impact on Cortesia Del MarMario{{Citation needed}}, understanding them is not essential to understanding Cortesia Del MarMario on CivClassic.

Cortesia Del MarMario first established itself on [[CivClassic 2.0|CivClassic]], its first Civ server, on January 2 2021. On this server, Cortesia occupied a modest claim in an underdeveloped region of the [[+,+]], where it constructed the futuristic city of [[New Sol]]. Cortesia was a founding member of the [[DUMP]], the [[CES]], and the [[AF-CES Partnership]]; it was also allies with all iterations of [[Eddie Murphy]] and a member of the [[Korell Alliance]], at the times when these polities existed. In October 2021 Cortesia ratified its Provisional Constitution, and completed a [[vault]] hole in which no vault was ever constructed. Cortesia Del MarMario remained relatively unchanged on CivClassic through to [[Jargon#EOTW|EOTW]] in December 2021.

Cortesia Del MarMario settled its final location within the first hours of [[CivMC]] [[Jargon#SOTW|SOTW]], after it was discovered by then-new Cortesian citizen [[CommradePotatoe]]. The nation quickly established lines of communication with its southern neighbor [[Danzilona]] and western neighbor [[Doom City]], with whom it established specific borders on the server's second day. On July 8th Cortesia Del MarMario would unite with its neighbor, Aurellia, across the Santiago Straits under the treaty of Santiago. This merger was a result of the friendship between [[Monterrey]], [[Krowatia]] and Cortesia established on [[CivClassic|Classics]].

The executive branch of Cortesia is the Cortesian Cabinet, headed by the the President of Cortesia Del MarMario. The Cabinet serves to excerise authority of the Cortesian Republic. The President and Vice President are both elected into their positions by the general populace of Cortesia. The first version of the constitution subscribed to an unlimited term model, where a President would serve indefinitely until voted out. Prior to IceCarim's departure from the presidency, an amendment to the constitution was made that created 4 month long terms and regular elections, which is currently the norm. The President and Vice President may select any citizen (if willing) to serve on the Cabinet. The positions in the Cabinet are as follows:

Cortesia ishas bestlots known for itsof usual debate and discussiondebates, which are considered a core part of Cortesia. In fact, there are two main "classes" in CDM tied to debates. "Masters" and "Debaters". It takes a bit of time to become considered a "Master Debater"...including detecting bait posts. People who post great bait in CdM for the debates are called "Master Baiters". Two major issues permeated the early political sphere of Cortesia, construction of the capital city, now named Concord, and the Constitution, with the former being the more decisive of the two.
