== You wakeup in an unfamiliar place ==

When you join, you will spawn in a random location almost anywhere within a 15km of origin(0,0).

The world boundry is 15km from 0,0.

"Our world, while limited in size, is still quite large." - Unknown

You may often spawn many kilometers from any other player, much less any sort of settlement.

The in-game chat has a 1km limit, so any player more than a kilometer away will not hear your messages.

Communicate With Others

  • Voice communication: Download Mumble
  • Server: mc.civcraft.vg
  • Port: 64738

You can use mumble, the subreddit, or any other means to either find or promote locations to organize.

Starting Guides and Other Information

  • Tutorial
  • Mods running on the server
  • Road Map
  • Lurk on the subreddit and use Mumble to visit everyone you can. Work with others, live with them, ask them questions. Going alone is hard.

Source is TTK2.

== Surviving your first civcraft day ==

An important thing to do before you even start playing is to read this wiki and the for information on the various plugins.

Now when you spawn you can spawn anywhere on the 15k radius map which means you might be kilometers away. At this point, you'll spawn with a spawnbook, that gives you bits and pieces of info on the various mods and the server. You should read it first. Then come back and read both the reddit wiki, mostly for info on the plugins, and this wiki, for the indepth information, mostly on the history and community of the server.

Unlike default minecraft where you might just kill a few animals and get some food from waiting around for wheat to grow on civcraft this is not practically possible beacuse of server optimizations that wastly lower the ammount of passive mob spawns, and a plugin that heightens the time to breed mobs, and grow food.

Wheat, carrots, melons, and other types of food can only be grown in certain biomes as well. Check this Google spreadsheet for growth rates as a percentage of vanilla growth. Also, plants require sunlight to grow, or a glowstone placed right next to the plants. Breeding is also messed with, and animals cannot breed in some biomes, but have a chance to breed in some biomes.

Your best bet for getting started is to find a public farm in a nearby city, to find the locations of cities use this map.

Simply use F3 or Rei's Minimap or Radarbro to find your (x,y,z) coords for use in navigating the map. Also, you are welcomed to ask on the subreddit about what cities are open for new players.

once you find a city with a farm you can finally start playing civcraft.

== The CivCraft Experiance ==

CivCraft is not meant to be played as a hermit. Hermits do play on the server, but most people remain active in cities and regions. When you play CivCraft, you don't play with a set goal in mind. The game is what you and your buddies make of it. There is no goal in mind like total conquest of the lands, no ending the infection, no endgame that makes the admins declare you the winner.

You can play as anyone or anything on this server. You can be a farmer, mayor, businessman, factory owner, hermit, griefer, thief, raider (watch out for those pearls!), etc. You won't be banned unless you cheat, Dox players (uncovering their real life details without permission), or destory the server. The admins reserve the right to ban in case you somehow find a loophole in those basic rules. However, you are free to do everything else.

Ah, but the griefer and the thief are punished by the players! (So if you don't want to get punished, and/or pearled, don't be a dick to people.) This game encourages players to build civiliaztion with Minecraft's tools. Remember, this means CivCraft is a highly social experiance. You could be harvesting your farm, then get a PM from a friend requesting that you pour lava on his castle's entrance to stop an incoming brigade of raiders. Then you could hop onto Mumble and the subreddit to notify the community of the raiders. Then the raiders may run away and attack another city the next day, and you must decide to continue farming by the castle, or run to the city to help. Or they could completely decimate you with their Prot4 and various sharp swords and firey bows.

Make friends, talk on the subreddit and Mumble, ask for a city to join. See what happens from there. And, whatever you do, don't break the rules. Except the ones you set for yourself.__ Because those are the most fun to break.__
