The Agoran Federation

The Agoran Federation is a collection of independant city-states that all follow one federal code of laws, the Agoran Constitution. In civcraft v1 these cities were Agora, New Agora, Rift, Lazuli, San Mateo, Irontown, and Apex. The Federation prides itself on its history of maintaining democracy and freedom for its people as well as ensuring a safe place to live and learn at its esteemed University System.

Civcraft 1.0

Agora

The federation got its start when the user Pantostado1066 began a squatter's commune in the Ancapistan ruins that were Agora on December 31, 2012. He opted to keep the name and advertise it as a safehaven for refugees fleeing the HCF war that was causing havoc in much of the civcraft world. Slowly but surely the ruins were cleaned by the handful of residents living in what is now referred to as Old Agora. After the town was presentable and self-sufficient the citizens started working on a university. The first big boom of immigrants to Agora came to learn at the Agora State University.

Breaking Away from its anarchic agorist beginnings the first Agoran elections were held on the 15th of January 2013. Wherein they people elected Pantostado1066 as Mayor, Sitheguy as Tribune, DonVlinar as Senator, Tambien_Sinclair as Dean, and Galvan_ as Consul. 2 days after these elections the Al Kaowni attacked.

The Al Kaowni, an islamic terror cell headed by leader Mandy had been wreaking havoc in much of the South-East of civcraft in lawlessness created when the HCF removed the world police from power. They destroyed Agraria and Mithgond Abbey, the rest stop for weary travellers. Hearing of Agora's University they targetted them next. On a day that will live in infamy in the hearts of the surviving Agorans the Al Kaowni destroyed the university, killed all the livestock, and littered the streets with DRO promising to return to finish the job. User IGotyou, prominent HCF member, came to Agora to clean up the grief caused by the Al Kaowni.

New Agora

Looking upon the damages, and knowing that the terrorists may return the citizens of Agora took to the sea to find a new home. Pantostado along with Agg located another ruined AnCap city, Cressemopolis and declared it a fitting site for New Agora. Camping nearby to the ruins were users AgentMuu and FNDragon who upon hearing the new settlers setting up shop donated many supplies to help create the new town. The ruins of Cressemopolis were set aside for the new University Campus. A monument, the torch of Agora, was raised as a constant reminder of what was lost.

The city expanded fairly rapidly in its first month. People fleeing the destroyed cities in the wake of HCF war often chose New Agora as a home and many also came with the promise of the new University. A diamond vein was found under the city of Old Agora and the ruins were reverted to a mining colony. The occasional local drama tested the integrity of the young cities government structure and eventually there was need for a constitutional rewrite.

The postion of Mayor became Chancellor. The position of Senator became Speaker of the House ( later Secretary of State). The position of Tribune became Secretary of the Interior. The position of Consul became Secretary of Peace. the position of Dean became Secretary of Education. After the rewrite, in order to give the miners and settlers in old Agora the rights of New Agorans, the City of Agora became the Agoran Federation.

One of the most controversial terms was that of Tambien_Sinclair's chancellorship. This period started with a trial to determine whether or not Tambien had called a hit against Secretary of Education candidate Agg23. Tambien was found innocent in a trial due to a lack of substantial evidence against him. The attention of this trial was quickly drawn away after the Al Kaowni who had been freed from prison returned to New Agora with a vengeance. They once again attacked the university littering it with DRO, they continued up the main boulevard and destroyed part of New Agora Tower, placed reinforced obsidian at the entrance to nearly every home in town and finished the attack by creating a tower of DRO on the Torch of Agora. Dedicated citizens camped the log out point of Mandy while people from all over civcraft, most notably DBB of Prussia, helped in the cleanup proccess. At the Mandycamp spawn point the campers created a naval ship while they waited. The camping was successful and finally Al Kaowni leader mandy, and the other members of the terrorsit organization were pearled and held in the Agoran Vault.

Corruption and drama in the government would plague New Agora up until its final days on the server when Hamster would cause the downfall of Civ1. In the upheaval of the server New Agora was not immune to the rampant end of the world griefing that was widespread. However in the midst of this chaos one particular event stood out. Comped, a relatively new user, attempted to purchase the Agoran Federation from then Secretary of the Interior, Enforcer for 10% stock in his company Trident Corp, and replace the council with his own appointed council. After a trial it was found that Enforcer had not attempted any such thing and Comped was universally despised by Agoran citizens who felt that this form of corruption spat in the face of much of what Agora stood for.

The final log out points of many prominent Agorans still esxist in the ruins of New Agora and Old Agora.

Rift

The first city to join the Federation was one of the oldest cities on the map. A number of ambitious settlers attempted to reclaim the ruins of the city and restore it to working order. Frustrated, the settlers sold the deed to user ProffessorHess. While technically part of the Federation no renovations or settlers ever were residents of this historic site.

Atlantis

One of the few public blunders by the young Agoran Federation was the attempted purchase of the former underwater AnCap city of Atlantis, deep in the great +,- ocean. What started as a joke comment after finding the diamond vein that "Agora was wealthy enough to buy an AnCap city" The interest to purchase, or annex/squat the city was presented on the /r/civcraft subreddit and was met with anger by many former inhabitants. the potential purchase fo the city went completely against their political ideologies as AnCaps. The attempt to claim Atlantis was abandonned almost before it began.

San Mateo

This offshoot city started by Pantostado1066 was supposed to be a creative build themed as a carribean resort town. It was located within chat range on the continent south of New Agora. Its most striking landmarks were a large fountain and beautiful palmtree studded beaches. However the city remained largely uninhabited due to New Agora being the primary residence of all people interested in the project.

Irontown

Created by Hamburgler this small town was on the same continent as New Agora, but on the far North Western snow biome. The town boasted a number of highly effecient grinders, including an Iron Golem Grinder and innovative pumpkin pie machine. Iron town was one of the more inhabited of the First Federations cities with 6 residents at its height.

Lazuli

It can be argued that this once great city turned abandonned town was a part of the federation, but it depends on who you ask. During Tambien_Sinclair's term as chancellor it was technically admitted to the union. Skull, one of the main restorers of the city says yes it was but the admittance of the city never passed a council vote.

Apex

The last city to join the Federation in 1.0. This town south of San Mateo was founded by Galvan_ as an independant city. Due to it's initial status as not a member state of the federation it was lauded as a joke town. The meme #apexisawall circualted on /r/agoracity for quite some time. However of all the federation cities it can be argued that Apex was the most successful at drawing citizens and was the second most populated city. Eventually the founder Galvan succumbed to the pressure to Join and Apex became an official member-state.

Civcraft 2.0

True Neutral League

In an early attempt to gain security in the new server the Agoran Federation joined with friendly states Bay City (which later become Bryn) and Fellowship to form the True Neutral League. This loose alliance of nations decided in order to help one another and to secure a foot hold in the +,- quadrant early on in the new server, that the citizens from all three cities would start in a temporary camp to gather resources and then form cities relatively near one another. This plan proved to be a success and the three cities have formed decent sized nation states early on in the server, including finding and sharing diamond veins and securing the Leagues wealth. Later on, the Kingdom of Peppinopolis and the Communist State of New Leningrad would also join this alliance dedicated to avoiding conflict with nations.

Aurora

The new Capital of the Agoran Federation. Aurora sits at the mouth of a natural bay on a wooded continent. The first chancellor of this new Federation was Chemistry35, prominent New Agoran and /r/civcraft admin. It's bayfront property and distinctive highrise downtown make it a striking and aesthetically interesting city. In its first days of development the city fell under attack by Mocha12 who was pearled and given trial. A number of other griefers plagued the city's initial start including Tiloup's group of griefers, GregoryMitchell, and the notable DRO grief by Al Kaowni. Aurora is still relatively new but it encompasses much of the spirit that the Agoran Federation and New Agora has tried so hard to create and maintain.

Muutang Resort

This mushroom biome island just off the coast of Aurora was settled by AgentMuu, former New Agoran Secretary of the Interior. Muu has stated that his end goal is to create a central hub of trade between the initial members of the TNL and to sit as a sort of neutral ground for diplomatic discussions between Bryn (the former Bay City), Fellowship and the Federation.

Luxerion

Luxerion is a small island northwest of Aurora, and just west of Muutang Resort. It was the third province of the Agoran Federation on 2.0. Originally full of life, and very active, the island has become deserted, and is being annexed into Aurora, to be used as suburbial housing. At its peak, many visitors have described it as well designed and aesthetically pleasing.

Al Kagora

Truly a story of redemption and forgiveness gone sour, this Province of the Agoran federation is a total Monarchy developed by none other than the infamous leader of the Al Kaowni, Mandy. The reformed griefer had earned the trust of Agoran citizens by promising to throw down her arms and befriend the people of Agora. This trust was cemented by her selfless clean-up of a devastating grief attack on the city of Fellowship within the first weeks of Civ2. The city boasts a massive wheat farm, and the Al Kaowni claimed to want to turn the city into a place for farming and the worship of god. However, after Al Kaowni's return to their old griefing ways, the city lies empty waiting for the Federation to reclaim it and give it a new life.

Bohr Island

Bohr Island is a tiny island southeast of Aurora, and southwest of Fellowship. It exists as a territory of the Agoran Federation, after the Agoran flag was hoisted. Bohr Island faces an ambitious build project, the final result being a small but dense town, with heavy trade, and as a transportation hub.
