Jericho is a desert state in the Gensokyojin Royal Confederacy located near the cities of Mt. Augusta and New Detroit. A small desert town south down the Sanzu River, the town of Jericho was founded originally as a religious colony akin to ancient Jerusalem by builder TerminusRob. Though never having much by means of population living directly in town, Jericho was a desert town promising freedom to those with determination.

Jericho consists of few major structures: cactus farms, the Solomon's Mine Casino, the Lamb of God Cathedral, the Jericho Church of Emmanuel, and the Ezekiel Public Library. While a rather small city, it is planned to grow in the near future after the acquisition of the town by Gensokyo. The town of Jericho is best known for its three crosses erected upon a tall mountain. These historic crosses illuminate the river and stand a monument to the town’s religious heritage.

Jericho sits in the Absolution Desert south of downtown New Detroit and across the river the Goten District of New Detroit. It was built out of sandstone and wooden structures, and is based on the principle of mining for your future of discovering riches in the blocks underfoot. The town promises riches, freedom to build, and a hopeful future for Civcraft.

History

Early History

May 2014, a socialist city named Proletarskaya attempted to re-industrialize after a period of low activity and consequently factory loss. To re-industrialize, the citizens of Proletarskaya aimed at selling experience in exchange for diamonds. To get experience, a few citizens created a cooperative where each individual would get a seperate material. Two citizens, namely TerminusRob and Lifetime0fwar, headed out to the desert near Mt. Augusta to build at small settlement to get cactus. Mt. Augusta was abandoned and badly griefed at this time, and much of early Jericho was built from salvaged goods in the griefed stuctures of Augusta. Eventually both Lifetime0fwar and TerminusRob went inactive alongside the rest of Proletarskaya.

Jericho went into a state of stagnation until an individual named Doompie joined the town and attempted to revive it. Doompie took initiative and merged Jericho into the nation of Gensokyo, although he himself would go inactive in time.

Recent History

Fast forward a couple months and TerminusRob returned to a relatively intact Jericho which was taken care of by Augustans such as ShadedJon and the people of Gensokyo in the meantime. TerminusRob remained active in the town, bringing in many newfriends and expanding the town greatly with the help of Gensokyo.

City Features

- Jericho is located in very close proximity to the Mt. Augusta nether portal.

- Jericho hosts the Jericho Experience Company run by Aarkan13 and TerminusRob.

- Housing plots are free, although new citizens are required to take an apartment up to 3 days prior to building a house.

- All buildings should be made of sandstone with conservative use of wood and clay. Stone products not allowed, glass not allowed. These materials are reserved only for special projects.

- Special building projects can be requested by putting a sign up on the public message board in town. Simply state what you'd like to build (ex: fort, temple, ship, etc.) and where. Leaders will get back to you.

- Sand mining is done away from the city to preserve natural beauty.

- Technically Jericho has no formalized government, besides TerminusRob being head of state as bestowed by leader of Gensokyo, Her Superior Majesty Screenname von Gensokyo. Any ideas (or wanted roles) can be posted on the town message board.

- Any materials/tools needed can also be requested to Lunar_Downpour or TerminusRob and if it is in stock within the state treasury, it will be given to you.
