First there was Civcraft, now there is Civcraft 2.0

Beginning of Civcraft 2.0: The Land Rush Era

Following the announcement of a server reset the subreddit and mumble was flooded with plans for new cities. Civcraft 2.0 began and the great test of which cities would earn their place in the history books was quickly underway. Almost immediately certain settlements gained more traction than others.

The most notable and ambitious settlement was "The Metropolis", a system of landowners under the overarching administration of Berge in the capital city of Minas Minas. The capital was a highly concentrated, highly populated area, and many cities were assigned build zones in a radius around the capital, heading further out to the periphery.

The second most relevant city was the State of Kappi, founded by HCF PvPer SoapBucket and his entourage only a few hours after the beginning of the server. The city was the serverwide hub for nascent HCF activity, and, due to its success, it attracted many hermits and migrants who flocked to the city hoping to make money.

The settlement of Versailles (later to become Orion) was founded on a small peninsula overlooking a river by Itaqi and Seldomshock. Versailles would grow exponentially before the week's end.

The first major city in the +,+ was also founded six days after the server start by player Skeps100 and his entourage. They christened their city Istanbul and founded the Skepsian Caliphate, that would later grow to encompass much of the Augustan basin and become a strong power.

The Kingdom of Petrania, a continuation of the 1.0 town of Bereza, also appeared to the south of the Augustan basin. The capital, Suilven, became the region's artistic and cultural center for a short period of time.

It is known that the Prussians also continued into this new world, but their location was classified for several months.

Summer, 2013: The Griefing and Building Era

The Black Knights

===== As cities popped onto the map, griefers came to ruin them. For example, the Black Knights claimed to now be good guys despite crimes and crimes upon Orion and trouble for others. Despite griefs and their name, others dared to challenge them. After their promise to be good, they appeared to have broken the promises while trying to be good guys. Thankfully, people pearled by BK in Orion were freed.

From Lucifielle's comment here, it appears the Black Knights are of young age, likely young teens or near ten years of age. A list of most of them:

*Belthazor19
* valeriem97 (Belthazor)
* mfswwp2007
* SuperBuilder229 (Who reformed and joined Gondolin)
* Infinite_Galaxy (mfs)
* Assassin726 (mfs)
* icecreamman937 (Belthazor)
* kaster108 (Belthazor)
* Jake954424 (Belthazor)
* Wergo20

<wrap lo>Black Knights have been all but eradicated due to the efforts of many states and individuals as of 8/7/13. Though some still play on VPNs, their griefing spree, especially against Orion and the UCS, was brought to a conclusion when the group was accosted by tankbuster44, clone2204, gongshowhpn, and other Gondolodrim outside of Haven in late June. </wrap>

Building

transportation was built as cities grow or die. Kappi grew in the center of the map under SoapBucket's rule. Berge is being Berge over his kingdom. The Metropolis grows with many cities. Other groups have cities with them like the True Neutral League to watch out for each other while staying out of international drama. How long the groups will last is unanswered, but the challenege of international highways, trade, and relations will be confronted as mountains become more accessible.

The Tenuous Situation in Kappi

SoapBucket, dictator of Kappi, took control of the shared citadel groups and removed large amounts of diamond reinforcements from city infrastructure, hiding them in an unnamed vault outside of the city. Removing all non-HCFers from any government position, he dissolved the administrative arm of the state and attempted to disband the Kappi Militia, the strongest fighting force in the server, staffed mainly by ethnic HCFers as opposed to Civcrafers. The militia immediately rebelled and stormed government offices, and discovered the stolen diamonds and infrastructure. It was then that Soapbucket was rumoured to have fled the city from secret tunnels with two close friends, returning to his vault and abandoning the city.

The Kappi Militia, now discovering that the previous leadership had fled, realized they were now in control of the city. A public assembly was called on the crossroads of 0,0 to discuss the future government. The Civcraftian majority, severely oppressed under the previous government, demanded political reforms. The meeting suddenly ended in massacre when the Kappi Militia opened fire into the crowd and pearled many civilians.

This triggered an armed insurrection of the Civcraftians in Kappi who swore revenge for their brothers and fighting in the streets erupted between anti-HCF citizens and the Kappi Militia. Citizens declared a transitional government and attempted to seize the government building near 0,0. Civcraftian citizen militias also attacked HCF citizens, burning their houses and businesses. The HCF citizenry retaliated, and entire neighborhoods went up in flames as buildings were burned in the civil war.

This triggered an exodus of refugees from Kappi, leaving the city to escape the war and because their dwellings had been destroyed. Many of them traveled south and eventually joined the nascent city of Carbon. The others trekked overland until they reached the city of Aurora, that accommodated them with free apartments and tools.

Eventually the loyalist Kappi Militia forces managed to quash the uprising, and then themselves left south to join the early Bloodcrew. Others simply became inactive, and Kappi was abandoned.

Rise of the "Big Three" FIXME

As time went on, the populations seemed to shift, and consolidate to 3 Major cities. These were ( ordered from most populous to least) Orion, Aurora, and the Commonwealth.

Fall, 2013: Peace, or Building Hostilities?

At the end of the summer, most small cities had gone silent, and the populations had settled in Orion, Aurora, Commonwealth and Carson (See the September CAI). All major griefer groups went quiet by this point, even the most recent Gimmick Brigade.

An on-going fight between three sides, Kappi, Gimmick Brigade, and "Dill Weasel's Group," even began to fizzle out after multiple weeks of constant fighting, allying, and back stabbing. Many argue that the Gimmick Brigade (who was reported to involve several HCF players) was gearing up for an all out revival of the HCF invasion.
