Little Latvia is a small nation-state in the Central +,+. Originally founded in the first week of 2.0 by Darkflame826, the city was re-founded by Ave3ng3d7x in November of 2013 after a period of abandonment. After being re-founded, the city and surrounding country side underwent major renovations, and following the Churchill-Little Latvia Unification Treaty of December 2013, Little Latvia became a protectorate of it's neighbor and twin city Churchill. In the following months the city and it's industries grew into the plains biome to the south and west of the city, now called Riga. After the return of Darkflame826, the decision was made by then triumvirate government to push for independence. Little Latvia became an Independent nation on Friday, May 2nd. Little Latvia then petitioned to join the United Provinces of the Plus Plus (U3P) and achieved full member status after a month long provisional period.
Since then, Little Latvia has become a symbolic home for the U3P, and is host to it's headquarters and XP exchange. Recently, the country has seen a severe drop in activity, and is now in the care of it's second Patriarch, Nightmaresplody.
History
Founding and Naming (May 19 - Mid June 2013)
Little Latvia was founded on May 19, 2013 by Darkflame826. At the time of it's founding, it existed as simply another unnamed farm on the plains of Civcraft. A few days after it's founding and the construction of its farmhouse, veteran Civcrafter Ave3ng3d7x stumbled across the town. Together with Darkflame826, the name Little Latvia was decided on after several "Latvian jokes" (no potato, politburo take potato away, etc.) were made by the pair. From this period on the farm was known formally as: The Hamlet of Little Latvia. Soon after it's naming, Contact was made with the nearby town of Churchill, and in a show of friendship that would define the two towns relationship, CBakon gifted the two Latvians with a stack of precious potatoes.
Abandonment and Occupation (Mid June - November 2013)
Over the next few weeks people came and went, most staying for only a few days to help out around the farm. During this time Avenged started his famous news series "Bane Talks Civcraft" and built the radio station which still adorns the mountain which stands behind Riga. At some point after the station was built, both Darkflame and Avenged left the city, with the former taking a long break from Civcraft, while the latter moved to the city of Carson to produce his show.
At some point after the farm was abandoned by its founders, unknown individuals from the Civcraft Socialist Coalition (CSC) occupied the farm. During this period the farms were expanded and several stone buildings with rudimentary government functions were built. By mid November 2013, these buildings were abandoned. Signs were put up all over the surrounding territory proclaiming that the town had been renamed "Little Stalingrad", and that it was now territory of the CSC.

Liberation and Re-founding(Mid November - December 2013)
In mid November 2013, Ave3ng3d7x returned to Little Latvia and started work to return it to its former state. He removed the signs the CSC had placed, and renamed it Little Latvia once more. Contact with Churchill was reestablished during this time.
Union with Churchill and Growth (December 2013 - March 2014)
Soon after it's founding, Ave3ng3d7x and the leaders of Churchill signed the Churchill-Little Latvia Unification Treaty of December 2013. This allowed free access of supplies between both parties. In the next five months, Avenged worked on improving Little Latvia's infrastructure and attracting settlers to the aspiring town. Before officially allowing people to settle Avenged wrote the a charter for the town. At this point, the town was still officially known as "The Hamlet of Little Latvia". In the charter, Avenged declared himself the "Foreman". The position of foreman was envisioned as a more business-like title, as Little Latvia was still, at it's core, a farm.

"Hybernation State"
When going through periods of inactivity, it has been the general practice that the Patriarch assumes all major duties for the town when the council is not able to perform them. Nightmaresplody currently holds this duty.
The role of the church
The Patriarch of Kartupelu also serves as the high priest of Baznicas Sveta Kartupelu (Latvian for Church of the Holy Potato). As head of the church, "You like, don't really have to do anything. Just chill and eat some p-taters (Slang for Poison Potatoes)."
