Venne (CivMC): Difference between revisions

Despite having left Mount Augusta behind as an official primary place of residence, the people of Venne continued to be politically active in the nation. This would lead to a final political and legal battle spurred on by Mount Augusta's acquisition of territory adjacent to the newly-refounded Venne, dubbed "South Mount Augusta". Fearing further Augustan encroachment into the otherwise peaceful Alenarith ice sheet, then-Augustan citizens [[Ahme63]], Fairbyfly, headshot_0515, Juicy_Watermel0n, Magic_Maya, Nickflik, RedDevel, Shadowvdark, and Stefanmakker[[StefanMakker]] decided to halt progress in the region by claiming large swathes of the new territory as personal property under Augustan law, legally preventing the Augustan government from doing anything with the land. As a result of this protest, [[SinjoroJoCrafter|Sinjoro]] (also then a citizen of Mount Augusta) introduced a bill to declaim the territory. However, when the bill seemed as though it would pass he quickly rescinded it. As such, Shadowvdark re-posted the bill, which now saw very little support in contrast to its previous run. It was this re-posting of the bill, and the subsequent electoral support it received from the protestors, that led to the Augustan judiciary taking action. On the 21st of June, 2022, then-judges Asakuun and Cattus, with the approval of then-governor ComradeNick, voted to revoke the citizenships and seize the property of all the protestors listed above, effectively exiling them from Mount Augusta. This act would serve to officially sever what few ties remained between Venne and Mount Augusta. Only much later would the citizenships of some of the protestors be restored under the wFangw administration, though these restorations were largely symbolic and none would return to Mount Augusta.

With many of Venne's members returning from their inactivity at similar times, the decision was made to continue developing the nation elsewhere. Venera's harsh and isolated southern position ultimately proved incompatible with further development. After some searching in early February of 2023, a suitable tract of land for a new capital was located on a large undeveloped island in the -,+ quadrant. While the land was claimed by Leibniz Confederation, the complete absence of development prompted Vennish leadership to pursue claiming it by developing the area and then announcing its claim once a foothold was established. During this period of undercover development the capitol and factory buildings, Solar Plaza, and the statue "Venera Calls" were constructed. When the nation of [[Warmia]] began to consider claiming some of Leibniz Confederation's land, the government of Venne took the opportunity to place diplomatic pressure on [[Okx]] to sell the island. On March 11, 2023, Shadowvdark officially met with [[Okx]] on the steps of the capitol building to purchase the island for one diamond. Shortly thereafter, the island was renamed to Venozia and declared the nation's new capital. Also in this period, Venne would receive permission from the former leader of Paradice StefanMakker to absorb the wealth he had accrued during his time of activity, which amounted to a considerable sum of diamonds, iron, and other precious materials.
