Initially founded in late 2020 by several members of nations in the [[Far Seas Alliance]] in [[CivRealms 2.0]] for the now cancelled iteration of [[CivEx 4.0]]<ref>https://old.reddit.com/r/CivEx/comments/oou4i3/its_dead_btw/</ref> following the decline of player count on CivRealms, Nara was initially planned as a ''nation of states'' much like [[Nro'meagh]] and later the [[Imperial Federation]] (albeit with a more rigid federal structure) to make use of some of the planned mechanics of CivEx. This server never would release, with many members continuing on to play [[CivUniverse]] or [[Devoted Hell]] in the interim. In Hell, many Narans played in the successful nation of [[Inferno]] while waiting for a more serious (and stable) server to release. This didn't arise until the closure of [[CivClassic]] in late 2021, and the announcement of the release of [[CivMC]] at some point in 2022. With CivEx behind them, Nara was merged under the one banner in preparation for launch, and many of the plans for subdivision into smaller nations (such as the planned nation of Nagoya) were abandoned.

As the capital Shiroyama will likely become the largest and most prosperous city in the nation benefited by it's closeness to allies as well as it's access to lake Biwa via the Beartooth river to the west, and the Ebi river to the east. The great lake Biwa being of certain note as it is central to the +,+ quadrant and connects at least six different nations both to eachother and to the ocean via water.

North of Shiroyama lays the Noto peninsula, sandwhiched between the diverging Ebi and Beartooth. It represents a continuation of the Shiroyama region northward to lake Biwa and holds both the headquarters of the Naran Agricultural Department (soon) as well as an expansive farm across nearly the entire northern half of the peninsula producing mass quantities of products to be used both nationally and abroad. Nito Point is at the tip of the peninsula, where there is planned to be a lighthouse.
