HeroChat is a mod which limits chat visibility to players within 1000m of the speaker and was used on Civcraft 1.0 before being replaced by CivChat.[1] HeroChat is designed to reduce chatbox flood and also to increase realism, although communication between any two players on the server is still possible, regardless of distance, through private-messaging. On more recent Civ servers chat restrictions are controlled by the plugin CivChat2.[2]

It also features a /me command which is currently unavailable to normal players.
