Newtro

Newtro was a socialist town in the mid +/- led by btingle and blanksynergy.

History

Newtro was founded by btingle and blanksynergy in early june as a small town with members originating from fellowship, called "The mootropolis", because of the cows in the area. Later, members such as Lastarchon and manofone (who are now inactive) joined and helped significantly with the city.

Around june 8th, a member called "sonnyboi2" joined the city. Deemed harmless by the leaders, he was allowed to stay. Unfortunately, two days later, he went on a rampage and destroyed the town, igniting things, breaking houses, killing animals.

The members of the town decided they would rather move somewhere else than fix the town, so they gathered up what supplies were left and headed south to create the new town. The name "newtro" was settled on because it was a shortening of "New mootropolis".

Early Overview Of The City

</WRAP> Newtro had established itself as one of the more popular and well-known socialist cities on CivCraft 2.0, which, sadly, had little effect on the city's growth.

Due to the general inactivity of it's old players and a stagnated influx of new citizens, Newtro was completely abandoned in the late August of 2013. Many of Newtro's core players either moved on to other socialist cities and factions, such as the LSIF, or abandoned their socialist cogitations completely and decided to find a new home in the city of Orion.

Newtro has since fallen in a state of disrepair and has been hit by various groups of griefers and raiders on different occasions.

All roads to Newtro have been destroyed by an unknown perpetrator and the city is therefor hard to reach these days.

Exarchia Commune

The squatter's commune of Exarchia had been an attempt to bring new life to the city of Newtro by a few members of the LSIF and some of the old Agorans.

Due to the inactivity of many of the Agorans and more urgent LSIF-projects at the time (such as he Aurora- & Haven Commune), the project failed, and the city had been abandoned just as quick as it had been repopulated.

Landmarks and Surroundings

Newtro is located on an island at 6715, -752 and therefor in reasonable distance to big cities such as Aurora and New Leningrad, but also the rather small socialist city of Freyr.

Due to Newtro's short lifespan and long inactivity, there isn't really anything of interest left to be seen in the ruins of the city.

Many of the original buildings have been griefed.

Economy

Newtro had a mainly self-sustaining socialist economy. All resources were pooled and held in a communal storage. By gaining the trust of the local citizens, new residents obtained access to different level-value resources and tools. All factories were public to everybody.

Due to a lack of certain resources however, the citizens of Newtro were forced to trade with the capitalist nation of Aurora.

No very prominent people currently reside in newtro.
