Description

Baukunst is an experiment by Gotterdammer to delve into Civcraft's business and economic realms.

It currently operates out of Breslau, Gotter's city of residence, since there is little need to travel with the business' structure. It employs three people: Gotter himself as the manager of the business and architect as well as Koentinius and sjdewall as architects and the latter as an interior designer as well.

Products and Services

Products, Services, and Pricing

Baukunst is strictly an architecture company with some overlap in related fields. Its list of products and services includes:

  • Designing buildings on a commission basis
  • Designing alterations to existing buildings, in-game and out
  • Selling pre-existing building schematics from the Catalogue
  • Location consultation
  • City planning and design

Baukunst is able to design buildings, cities, or anything else around many principles, such as "being as griefer-proof as possible", "have a flexible flow and plan", or "as opulent and impressive as you can make it".

The pricing per service will be determined on a case-by-case basis. As a general guideline for commissions, a small house might cost 5-10d, and a larger skyscraper or company HQ 24-32d. If the commission is canceled, the minimum compensation for the architect's time is 2.5d/hour as agreed upon in the Contract. Prices for products in the Catalogue are fixed.

Note that Baukunst is not a construction company to build the physical project in-game, but can recommend other individuals or companies that can if needed. Connections are currently being established. An exception may be made if the project is to be built in Breslau or the labor is well-paid for.

For Prussians

The company also designs private housing for Prussian citizens free of cost for use within Prussia, and is working on some larger projects for Breslau.

Architecture Styles and Specialties

</WRAP>

Baukunst is able to build and work on alterations in practically any Minecraftian and real-worldly style. However, Baukunst's three current employees strongly specialize in European styles prevalant from the late Middle Ages to the early-mid 1900s. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • German, French, and Scandinavian Renaissance
  • Baroque
  • Gothic and Brick Gothic
  • Fachwerk
  • Romanesque
  • Neo-Classical
  • Carolingan
  • Gründerzeit

This list is by no means limiting or final. Any style or vision can be tried. Examples of more contemporary buildings will be uploaded soon.

Having an exact idea or a real-world building to have the commission copy or be based on will greatly ease the process for both parties and make the product much more accurate to the vision.

Images of former builds and the Catalogue will be created and uploaded here soon!

Structure

Contact, Commissioning, and Process

The first step to any business with Baukunst is to contact an employee, preferrably Gotter. The contact information in the infobox is the best option; send a message either in-game or, preferrably, through Reddit PM outlining the general idea of the project, commission, or other request. More specific questions will then be asked for the finer points of the project to see if we are able to satisfactorily complete the project, timely and qualitatively.

Then, it depends on the nature of the project.

  • For design commissions, Baukunst will create a singleplayer creative world to build the project on, updating you throughout the process to make sure the design is still on target with the expectations. Upon completion, you will receive the save file for your own use.
  • For building alterations, you can either send Baukunst screenshots of the building detailing it well enough to be reconstructed in a singleplayer, or an employee will travel to the location and take any information needed. The process will then follow similarly to the aforementioned commissions.
  • To purchase catalogued building designs, used and unused alike, from the company, simply establish contact and ask to view the Catalogue. The Catalogue is still a work-in-progress (WIP).
  • For location consultations, Baukunst will focus more on asking the type of terrain you'd like to build on, including relation to other cities, builds, and locations. To do so, various mapping tools will be used, including public and Prussian ones.
  • For city planning and design, follow the same contact steps. We are able to do many things in this direction, including but not limited to altering and improving pre-existing cities, planning ones entirely from scratch, or analysing current ones for construction location recommendations.

Formal documents, through Google Docs, to be filled out per project have been created and will be used in the near future for more orderly and structured process.

Anywhere throughout the process pricing will be discussed.

Cheating out of paying for a design or consultation while using it will result in action on our part for just compensation as defined in the Contract at the beginning of each project. It will be determined case-by-case.

Relation to Prussia

The company is entirely private and separate from the Kingdom of Prussia. All revenue will go to the company and its employees since Prussia currently has no taxation system or similar laws.

History

The business was first openly proposed shortly after the fall of the first Civcraft world to replace Gotter's previous attempt at experimenting with economics, the Königlich-Preußischer Industrie-Steinbruch, which never fully saw the light of day. Koentinius was asked to be the co-founder on the 2nd of June, but turned down the offer to instead be an employee.

It was then founded on the 3rd of June, 2013, in the second Civcraft world.

Sjdewall, after working on a commission project with Gotter, decided to join the company on the 17th of June, 2013.

Since its founding, its members have been very busy building and designing for Breslau, but a handful of commissions have been completed and built throughout Civcraft.

Miscellaneous

  • The logo is a 2x2 square using the RGB color values of in-game wool! Built projects designed by Baukunst will be given the option to publicly display either the logo or an informative sign for a slight discount.
  • The term Baukunst is a German synonym for architecture. It means "the art of building". The business' slogan is a play on the German proverb "Wer auf Gott vertraut, hat gut gebaut" ("He who trusts God has built well"). The slogan literally translates as "He who trusts Baukunst has built well".
