The Icenia August 20 Unrest was a civil dispute and short time of political instability and heightened tensions within the City of Icenia revolving around the widespread discontent of the citizenry with Council of Three member Droidjoe, particularly Droidjoe's unprovoked murder of Britishwanderer and his temporary pearling in response.
Background
Numerous Icenian citizens, namely Britishwanderer and the Better Icenia Party, hereafter referred to as BIP, had longstanding issues with CoT member Droidjoe, stemming from his supposedly unconstitutional suspension of Congress after the Great Fire of Icenia, his perceived repeated overstepping of his position, primarily him purchasing the island of Eslenti for Icenia before informing the rest of the CoT of the cost, and his planned policies to restrict newfriend immigration to the country.
Similarly, Droidjoe feared that Britishwanderer had plans to remove him from government in revenge for his suspension of the Congress, one not entirely unjustified.
Unrest
Killing of Britishwanderer
This tension surrounding Droidjoe came to a head when, as a result of frustrations regarding Britishwanderer's plans to remove Droidjoe from government, he attacked and killed Britishwanderer while he was returning to his home, passing through Fort Pike National Park. Droidjoe logged out for about ten minutes, during which time the news of Britishwanderer's murder was spread about the town, leading to mob mentality and calls for Droid's pearling and impeachment as a result. When Droidjoe logged back in, he was immediately pearled by Highboy16 and Gregy164, whom had been alerted to the situation and had been camping his log out spot.
The pearl was transferred to Highboy16's personal vault, at which point he had to log off, rendering the pearl near-inaccessible under a layer of DRO.
Early talks
Early talks were facilitated between Britishwanderer and Droidjoe by Ipslore_, who was on friendly terms with both parties. These talks led to British's dropping the murder charges against Droidjoe, and it being agreed that as soon as Highboy16 became available he would be released. It was also decided that when the remainder of the CoT came online there would be discussions on Droid's future role in the Council and the reasons for his widespread disapproval among the BIP and other citizenry.
Negotiations
When the other two thirds of the CoT, Chrischrispie and Smal, became available, a new round of talks were held mediated by ChrisChrispie. These were primarily between 2withyoda and Britishwanderer in the anti-Droid Camp, and Droid defending himself. Highboy16 returned and Droid was freed, and over about an hour of negotiations it was decided that Council of Three elections would be held on the 9th of September, balancing between the anti-Droid Camp's wishes for a 31st of August election, and Droidjoe's wishes for a 23rd of September election. This longer waiting time would allow for Droid to improve his public standing in lieu of feedback and prevent emotionally-charged votes from being cast so soon after the incident. In addition to this, it was clarified by all parties that there would be no revenge attacks taken in retaliation for the incident, and it would hopefully be forgotten.
