The government of the S.P.Q.R. is a republic headed by NovaCeasar. NovaCeasar is the Princeps and retains the highest authority to ensure stability and continuity, but the Consuls handle most of the daily administration of the civ. The Senate acts as both a legislative body and an advisory council while a People's Assembly can be convened to vote on referendums placed before it. The recent addition of two elected Tribunes has enfranchised all citizens with a stake in the politics of the nation with the Tribunes being mostly responsible for representing the newest citizens in the Senate and checking any overreaches. Under the Senate a chain of Proconsular governors and Prefects preside over the many districts the S.P.Q.R. has control over. |
