An Elevatorelevator is a block that allows movingteleporting aeither largedirectly numberupwards ofor blocksdownwards eitherto upanother or downelevator. Civ servers have variously used gold blocks (2.0, 2.0) or lodestones (CivMC) as elevators.

2.0 was the first mainline server to formalizeintroduce elevators as a mechanic.

To be considered valid, an elevator block must have at least 2 empty air blocks above it.
Many consecutive elevator blocks may be chained vertically to create "floors". Right click or jump multiple times to go up multiple floors, and similarly for going down multiple floors.

Reinforcing an elevator will not lock it to that NameLayer group. It will remain usable by all players.
To be considered a valid elevator, an elevator block must have at least 2 blocks of air above it. Signs, fence gates, or other non-solid blocks will not work, the 2 blocks must be pure air. It does not matter if the elevator block is reinforced, and you cannot "lock" an elevator by putting it on a certain NameLayer group.
