Vice however was not well liked however among the rest of the Nyasan populace - many of his votes in the March election came from political disgruntlement rather than true support - and this tension came to a head on the 31st March, when he was killed and briefly pearled by a gang of disgruntled Nyasans and Gensokyojins in the Palgrave storehouse. This transpired while Syurii Palgrave was asleep, and once she woke up she quickly had an anyeurism, shouted herself hoarse, and had Vice hastily released. However this event was a bridge too far, and would catalyze the long-growing tension to lead to the end of the Nyasan-Appomattox/Yonder-Dixie amalgamation; it was clear the situation was no longer tenable, and any goodwill which and underscored the union had crumbled.
